First let me preface this review by reminding everyone that this is an extremely lightweight and packable backpack that costs about $20 USD. It is not "Cheap" so to speak but is made to fulfill a specific task very well, thereby making it as light as possible while retaining a level of basic comfort and high functionality. The backpack has enough compartments to allow for a modest amount of organization while being spacious enough to allow a person to carry a fair amount of essential items for short periods of time, say a few hours to a half a day. I say short periods of time due to the fact that this backpack has no padding or internal support for load management. Basically, if you know well before hand that you are going to be running around with a load on your back most of the day, then you're better off using a basic school backpack or a higher quality purpose built daypack. One of the things this pack works well for is say in an emergency where you suddenly need to carry something for a long period of time or over a fair amount of distance. It also works well for those who think they 'Might' need a backpack for some activity but do not want the extra bulk of a regular pack. In this instance the pack is well suited to activities like beach combing and souvenir hunting, a tourist might find this especially handy for when they want to stay mobile but retain the ability to carry a larger gift/souvenir back to their current sleeping arrangement. The pack material is thin but strong enough to hold a decent load for the bag's size, one must take care to avoid abrading or piercing the material due to a lack of attentiveness. Remember the pack is meant to conserve weight and space so it sacrifices durability, regular use is fine so long as you take care not to abuse the pack too severely. Because the pack is made from a nylon ripstop style fabric it will retain a fair amount of natural abrasion and tear resistance but a sharp piece of steel will still cause some serious damage if it catches on the pack at any speed. For general repairs of the material in the event of damage I would strongly suggest using Mcnett's Gear Aid products such as their Tenacious Tape or T-tape patches with seam sealer used to seal down the edges of the repair. The nylon material is virtually waterproof and can be treated for extra resistance with products like Scotchguard. Your main sources of water penetration (as with any pack) will be the seams and the zippers, seam sealer can be used to mitigate this issue as well. The pack's layout is also very good, the main compartment also has a large pocket oriented toward the spine that is well suited to carrying a small to medium sized water bladder. A large water bladder might fit as well but would be more likely to fold since the inside of the main compartment lacks a loop upon which to hang a larger bladder. The shoulder straps both have a band for hanging items via a carabiner or retaining a water bladder's drinking tube as well as a small elastic mesh pocket that will hold things like small cell phones, two-way radios, or other compact necessities. On either side of the main body of the pack is a large elastic mesh pocket with a buckled compression strap above each. These pockets can be used to either carry water bottles or even an extra layer of clothing such as a rain jacket or fleece when used in conjunction with the compression straps. The top rear pocket on the pack has it's zipper well protected by a flap of fabric so this pocket is perhaps the least vulnerable to any precipitation, it is also sewed to expand allowing it to hold more than it first appears. The lower rear pocket is larger than the top one and has two additional organizational pockets, one a zippered mesh pocket and a drop in pocket behind it. This pocket also contains a nylon loop for hanging the pack when it is fully compressed into its, shall we say, "Travel Mode".For its intended purpose and what you're paying, you're getting a very good backpack overall, and thus far I've been delighted with mine. The accompanying pictures give an example of how and what you can load the pack up with. I took maybe a minute to think of things to use and then maybe two-three minutes to pack it so it would be comfortable to carry. And YES I did get all of that in the pack with a little bit of room to spare but this is by no means a comprehensive set up. Normally I would have a good compass, signal mirror, & zip ties in a pack as well as many other small but useful items.
Only the second review I've ever written, and I've ordered 2-3 items every week for the last 5 years, but I had to do it. This backpack is 1/3 the weight of any I've had before and it is lasting longer than I ever expected. This is not a weekend hiking deal for me. I use this thing every day. It's my gym bag and overnight bag so I carry about 15 lbs all the time. Bathroom supplies, first aid kit, playing cards, dice, sewing kit, meds, manicure kit, cans of supplements, handgun, Snack bars and nuts. A 1 liter water bottle, padlock, carabiners and multitool hang on one side and gym shoes and shower flops hang on the other. And that doesn't include the main compartment. I keep another pair of lifting shoes, jumprope, 3 knee braces, gym clothes, swimsuit and a towel in there. And I'm rough on my bags. 3 months is a good lifetime for most of my bags but this thing still looks new after 6 months. Really impressed. Thanks.
I've had this for a little over a year, and for a while it was terrific. Lightweight but sturdy, well designed, roomy, useful for light hiking as well as everyday carry. However in recent months the lining has disintegrated and sloughed off, which I could live with, I guess. But now the zipper has totally failed, so the bag is useless. Major bummer. EDIT: The seller contacted me and replaced the bag. Upping my star rating for their excellent customer service and standing by their product. Thanks!
This backpack is exactly what I was hoping for! I needed a packable backpack for my frequent travels. This one had key features the comparable models from the "top brands" like REI and Eagle Creek didn't have. And it costs WAY LESS!At a minimum, I wanted:- Pocket on the outside for water bottle (neither REI or Eagle Creek have this)- Outside zipper (not drawstring on the top) (Eagle Creek has it, but not REI)- Small outside pocket for wallet, keys, etc. (Eagle Creek has it, but not REI)- Inner compartment large enough to carry a pretty big DSLR camera plus souvenirs, etc.- Packable down to a small size.- Water resistant- LightweightThis product had all the features I wanted, plus it comes in a nice green color, has TWO outside pockets, and doesn't look like it was dropped from an alien mothership! (Seriously, the other brands look really weird). It seems to be very thoughtfully engineered and well constructed. So far, I am very happy with this product. I can't wait to use it on a few trips and see how it holds up to all-terrain use.
Customer service came to save the day.The backpack comes really tiny and it becomes a full fledged backpack. The backpack is fairly comfortable. Obviously it can't be super comfortable because of how incredibly light weight it is. It has a great amount of room, and a decent amount of pockets. I bought this for my 2.5 week trip to Southeast Asia and used it extensively and it did a great job.Now why was I going to dock it a point? When I got home after the trip and I was unpacking my bag I noticed these white strips that were annoying. I was wondering where they were from and then I realized the inner liner was peeling. Now, I'm pretty sure this isn't important and the bag is just fine without it but I'm also thinking the liner is probably what helps it be water resistant. And not only did it look ugly it meant that area was probably more prone to leaking through moisture. The peeling unfortunately also happened near the top of the bag.But why am I NOT docking it a point? Well, before I was going to post a 4* review (the bag is quite nice otherwise and the liner isn't important unless you're going to be out in the rain a lot) but then I remembered an email the company had sent to me. I seemed to have recalled them saying there was a guarantee on it so I looked up the email and there's a LIFETIME guarantee. So I emailed them my issue and sent them pictures of the peeling lining. They got back to me very promptly, apologized for the issue and offered me a new one. They couldn't give it to me for free but they gave me a coupon to use on for 99% off, so I just bought myself a new one for under quarter to replace it.Now that's customer service!
Great simple and light day pack.I ordered this and two other types(To compare), for a trip to Peru in September (to use for day hiking trips). Unfortunately, I forgot to take them.So instead, I've been testing them for usual stuff at home. I've been regularly taken them to work with my lunch and other stuff I need. I've also used them for actual day hiking trips, and for any overnight stays. At times, I've also even abused them a little, by carrying around my laptop (more on a limited basis, since they're not intended to be used for laptops and as such, don't offer much protection). Also, they've all have gotten a little splashed with water (nothing big), and on those few cases, no water has made it to the stuff inside.Overall, this backpack has help up really good. It fits a good amount of stuff inside, and has a great amount of different compartments/pockets to separate some of your stuff. And best of all, it folds up into a small pocket when not in use; so it doesn't take much space when stored.I purchased the black backpack and it looks really nice. Out of the three purchased lightweight backpacks, this is my favorite. The layout of the different compartments of this backpack work great for me. And the two side pockets work the best with my water bottles. I even like that you can clip the water bottles into place (preventing them from falling anywhere). In 2nd place, is the other backpack (purple color):?This one is really good too, nice color, and holds just about the same as this . What put it in 2nd was the layout of the compartments (which is just preference really), and that it didn't have the clips to hold the water bottles in place. But overall, still a 5 star rating. In 3rd place, was the Hikpro backpack.?Although nice, it just did not compare to the s. It is a bit smaller (so I actually could not fit my laptop into this bag - not that it's meant for that - so I don't ding it for it). But really, what put it in 3rd place was the side pockets. I have an 18oz water bottle, and it fits great in the first two backpack side pockets. For some reason, the pockets on this one don't hold it real great. I can put it in, but I need to be careful when moving it around because the water bottle actually fall out pretty easily. So, maybe it's just meant for smaller bottles? Besides that, this Hikpro is still a good lightweight backpack - especially if you're looking for something slightly smaller. This actually may work out great for kids.I'm very satisfied with this product. If I ever need more, I'll definitely buy this one again.
I got this because I love the orange colour. I figured that it was just a cute little bag I could keep on hand just in case.Well that "just in case" moment arrived when the very bag I was using to carry this bag in fell apart. Now the bag that fell apart wasn't a piece of crap nor was it a tiny little bag. No this was one of those over priced bags that women would sell their firstborn for without blinking an eye and mine just fell apart while I was going to see well never mind that.So while gathering every thing and I mean every freaking thing off the floor I spotted my just in case bag.I had to figure out how to use the darn thing because I just tossed it in my bag once I got it in the mail.So once I figured out how to open it I was actually surprised by the size because it was bigger than I expected, which is great because not only did it need to hold ALL the stuff that fell out of my expensive bag but it needed to hold the expensive bag that came with a warranty for a free replacement.Colour me totally shocked when I found out that my little just in case bag turned into my thank goodness I had this emergency bag.It held everything from my IPad mini, sweater, folding slippers, makeup case, sun glasses, reading glasses, water bottle, Bose headphones , wallet and my ruined purse. This foldable lightweight bag took everything I stuffed into it and I have been using it ever since as my new carryall bag.Now I have to buy another one in a different colour because you should always carry a spare bag because you never know when your spare will become your essential bag and this one folds up quite nicely without adding more weight or taking up much space.
I totally love this pack. I threw it in my suitcase to take on a trip with me to Vermont. I have used it non stop on this trip and love it. It's so comfortable to wear and the pockets hold and keep all my gear organized.
Don't remember when we bought it but it's been several years now. Hands down THE most reliable backpack our family has ever owned. The durability and reliability of it is unmatched. It's been with us to India, China, Hong Kong, across the US. It's been through the desert, the rain, the snow and the humidity. It's never leaked, never ripped (not even a small tear) and the zippers have never broken. It's virtually still brand new to us that we want to buy another one and came online during this Prime day and thought we should write a review. Can't believe it's that cheap (probably because it doesn't have a whole lot of pockets). But that's okay because then I can't remember which pocket I put things. This is just perfect. NO padding so if you're looking for that don't buy this backpack. However it folds until a small back made out of itself that's about the size of a 5x7 photo. It's a wonderful buy I'm sure you won't regret.
It is light and holds a lot. I used it four times now for day hikes. Plenty of room for first aid kit, water, snacks and sweatshirt. It is very light weight and so far no freys or tears.
Great light, foldable and expandable backpackAllowed me to easily fit in a basketball large water bottle and cloths. Seems to be well made provides inside zipper pockets and divisions and meshed sides for water bottle or other things and it's easy to fold into an small bagI like this a lot!
Awesome backpack. Bought it last minute for a trip to Peru - not a backpacking trip, but I used it for 10+ hours everyday including Machu Picchu and hiking Rainbow Mountain. It has plenty of pockets and is lightweight yet durable. Bringing it was easy because it's so small when it's folded up that it took up barely any space in my checked bag. Then I decided to use it as my carry-on for the trip home because it can hold so much but is still small enough to fit under the seat in front of me. Also the pink is like a lovely shade of fuschia - I don't usually buy pink things, but this is nice and not overly bright.
I bought this pack for my trip to Australia later in the year. I wanted something light and easy to pack in the suitcase. I found this little gem and I love it. I got the pack a couple of weeks ago and tossed it aside after taking out of the box. I looked at how small and flat it was and liked the size. Later that night I opened it up and unfolded it. I was really happy with the capacity and the number of pockets and compartments. I decided to take it to work the next day to see how it worked. I really don't carry that much in my work pack. Some snacks, my badge, some light first aid items, extra phone charger and battery and a few other miscellaneous items. All my items didn't even put a dent in the room of the pack. I used it for a few days and found it to be very handy and very capable of day to day use. Saturday morning I thought I would check out how it folds up into the small package that it came as. I wanted to be able to put it in my suitcase for my trip. I am a pretty handy guy around the house but for the life of me couldn't get the thing to resemble the way it came from ! After about an hour and some choice words I gave up. A few hours later I went the web site and just followed the pictures and folded it up in about 1 minute. DUH you dummy! Anyway it really is easy to refold into the small pack for travel. I plan on buying a new one for my trip because this one became my day to day work pack. Great product, well made, good price and I now have the perfect pack for walkabouts in AU!
This backpack is working great for me. My husband and I took it on a trip to Costa Rica where we traveled by large and small airplanes, so the luggage weight needed to be trimmed down and this feather weight pack helped in that regard. But not only is it lightweight, but its really quite roomy inside with several pockets and one zip pocket within another zip pocket where we kept valuables. The material and stitching is strong, so no issues there. We took this pack everywhere with us and we did a lot of day hiking as well as regular air, car and boat travel and it worked beautifully for all occasions. Finally, when we returned home and unpacked, I simply turned the bottom pouch inside out and stuffed the rest of the pack inside and zipped it up! I initially purchased two packs, but only needed one, but instead of returning the extra one, I think I will give it away as a gift to my brother who is a teacher. He would definitely put it to a rigorous daily test hauling his school stuff around and I'm confident the pack will perform beautifully.
I bought this as an emergency backpack for my travels. Sometimes you need a backpack with 2 kids in tow and sometimes you realized you bought one too many things to fit back into your luggage on the way home. I wanted super light, functional backpack to throw into my luggage that wouldn't add to the weight. I just went to Orlando with my kids and decided to give this a go instead of taking my usual big heavy backpack. I was so pleasantly surprised. It fit way more than it looked. It was super comfortable although it has absolutely no padding. The shoulder straps didn't dig. I was really surprised at how much it fit too. I had 3 rain jackets, 2 full-size Harry Potter wand boxes, 2 kindles, ipad, iphone, portable charger, snacks, and 3 bottles of water (2 bottle holder on the outside!). It made me realize how much the weight of the bag really adds to the overall weight because my purse with 3 things in it was bothering me more than this full backpack. I will say because it has no padding in the back, you have to make sure things are packed in a way something is not poking your back or your behind. All in all, I was super impressed at how great this was and its sturdy quality and how compactly it all folds up!
I purchased this foldable backpack for my trip to Europe and I used it as my day bag for when we went into the different towns. I personally LOVED this bag! It was extremely lightweight and I could fit several large items inside the bag. When I wasn't using the bag as a backpack I folded it up and packed it away in my suitcase during travel. It was quick and easy to fold/unfold the bagI managed to fit a change of clothes (pants/shirt/socks/underwear) a pair of shoes, a large water bottle, an umbrella, an American flag, a sweatshirt, and some snacks all in the large back pocket with plenty of room to spare. I had miscellaneous items in the other smaller pockets such as tissues, chargers, gum, maps, and chapstick. The only complaint I had about the bag was the zippers often got caught on the fabric. However the fabric never ripped and it was an easy fix, just had to be patient.Overall great bag and I am so happy with this purchase for my trip I highly recommend it to anyone who is about to travel and needs a lightweight day bag.
I've been using this backpack for about 7 months now and I love it! I did a lot of research before I bought it , reading a lot of reviews about a lot of lightweight but strong backpacks. The specs of this backpack sounded right to me, but my decision to buy it was mostly based on its overwhelmingly positive reviews.Once I got it I found that it lived up to its reviews: it is VERY lightweight, small enough for me to take every day to work without feeling awkward because it's too big and bulky, yet big enough to carry everything I need for the day, be it a day at the office or a day hiking over the hills. It's also big enough to hold most of my shopping if I go to the market on the way home from work, and strong enough to hold up without a problem when it's as full as I can pack it with very heavy groceries. And the shoulder straps are padded enough that its comfortable to carry on my back, no matter how much I've stuffed into it.Unfortunately, the reviews that complained about the annoying flap of cloth that covers the zipper of the top pocket and keeps getting stuck in it were also right on target. If I didn't remember to lift the flap out of the way before I open or close the zipper (and I usually don't) , it invariably got caught in the zipper and I had to work it loose. Extremely annoying. Then, a few weeks ago, my backpack got lost on a trip and though it was eventually found and returned to me, it came back so badly mangled that there was no way to repair it. So back I went to to look for another backpack. After wasting a lot of time looking at different backpacks and reading the specs and reviews of the likely ones, I came to the conclusion that even with the irritating zipper issue, this is still the best backpack for me.So I bought it again and when it arrived I discovered that it had been upgraded and while it still has all the features that I like so much, it no longer has that horrible zipper flap!!!This is definitely a 5 star product!
First let me say that it's hard for me to buy things like this, sight unseen. I took a chance because it has all the features that I was looking for and I have to say that I wasn't disappointed. It's very lightweight, yet doesn't feel flimsy. I load it up with a couple quart sized bottles of water, wallet, a battery charger, charging cable, umbrella, maps, etc when I'm going sightseeing and there's still plenty of room left over. It has two net pockets on the sides with straps to hold large water bottles and in addition to the zipped outside pockets, there's a small zipped inside pocket that you can use for cash, an iPod, your wallet, or whatever else you want to use it for. The larger outside pocket has another zipped net pocket inside it to help make things easy to find. That's also the pocket that the whole backpack folds back up into for storage. The straps are wide and very comfortable whether I'm using one or both. All in all a great purchase and well worth the price.
Planning on using it while doing some excursions on a cruise. My husband was worried it would look too small on him (he is 6' 4", 200 lbs) but we put several towels in it and tried it on and it doesn't look too small at all. It surprisingly holds quite a bit and hopefully the stuff inside will stay dry on our excursions.
Have used this on numerous day/section hikes on PA AT trails and has held up perfectly. It isn't going to sit up on it's own, because of the lightweight material but you just need to pack your stuff evenly to help that out. At first it may not look that it could fit much but I'm surprised each time when I hike and end up adding more stuff that it still holds. Keep thinking I may need to get a larger capacity but not yet. Moisture does go through easily if gets wet so would recommend getting a rain cover if plan on hiking in wet conditions. Have used Gryps Waterproof Backpack Rain Cover on this pack which worked well (https://www..com/gp/product/B07FLTM1L8/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1). Also, if packing water bottles in hot/humid weather or anything else cold, the condensation will go right through the material and so I suggest containing the bottles in a separate bag first (shopping bag works). Didn't think of this first time of use and found it had slowly drenched my lower back and shorts.
I haven't actually used it yet but will for sure. I did a "test" packing and it seems to hold enough for a weekend trip when you need just that backpack for under seat stowage on the cheapo airlines; or, perhaps need to check your roller bag but want to take just enough for overnight in case you get stuck somewhere.I would strongly suggest packing cubes to give the bag shape for comfort on you back. What I like most about this bag is that it is not so wide and has the side compression straps so as to not be "back heavy" and stick out too much.It is not as big as I thought it would be, but that forces me to pack lighter and smarter. With my test pack, I actually had some room and was able to fit an extra pair of shoes (Mahabis).Bottom line: If your looking for an emergency/extra bag for your trip, you can't go wrong with this bag, its practicality and the price!
Purchased this for flying to Florida via Frontier Airlines. We were visiting for a week and followed the Rick Steves packing light mantra: pack only what you know you will need and buy there if necessary, and wash as you go. Our back pack was the only bag each of us took. No carry on.This pack was perfect. I was able to fit electronics, a few shirts, underwear, socks and a spare pair of pants and sandals in addition to what we wore onto the plane. This pack is close to the dimensions for the Frontier PERSONAL item (not the carry on bag, for which they charge). It fit lengthwise perfectly into the under-seat space of the seat in front of me, maybe because Frontier has such roomy seats, with room for my big feet.Amazing to me, we washed and dried a load of clothes every second or third night and never needed all of what we packed. Thank you . Thank you Rick.
It's amazing how something so small, can cause such frustration. I'm talking about the previous design where the zipper gets caught in the flap that concealed it. Brilliant change, one less ridiculous thing to struggle with. Also worth mentioning is how lightweight it is and that it doesn't have that scratchy mesh backing that causes my clothing to pill. I know...super random gripe, but it's happened with other bags and doesn't with this one. I take this bag with me daily and now instead of fighting it...i just throw it on and go. Would buy again, but it's a sturdy little guy.... can see using it for a good while.
I purchased six of these for my kids for Christmas...in six different colors. I purchased them mainly so the kids could now keep up with their own stuff when we go to the beach or pool so they not me are keeping up with their own stuff. The kids age range is 8-17 and pack adjusts fairly well to their individual body type. Will be a couple of months before we put them through their paces but for now I can say backpacks seem well made for what they are. I wouldn't use them as a school pack as they are lightweight parachute material. Zippers function well and my kids have easily figured out how to "unpouch" and "repouch" them. I think you would have to watch zipping over the parachute material but other than that they seem quite user friendly Buckles and clips are better quality than anticipated Being lightweight they should dry easily after a beach day and not have to worry about fabric mildewing. I think they will work fine for our purpose. Colors seem true to pictures on and all packs arrived on time.I like the fact they can be folded into a pouch so I can just Toss in closet during the off season and the fact that they take up next to no space to store when not in use. Also look much neater in closet than a bunch of Beach bags If we lose one I can easily see me replacing a pack from this same company. If I think about it I will update after our first trip to the pool
I bought this pack for a recent trip but not expecting much. My plan was that I was going to pack 5 days worth of everything I needed plus my Macbook Pro 15", iPad, Kindle Fire HDX and all the attendant chargers and cables for those plus the ones for iPhone and Apple watch into my regular High Sierra laptop bag so that I wouldn't need to check luggage on the airline. In thinking about it, I realized I didn't want to have to empty everything out at my destination so that I would have a bag to carry my necessary stuff (wallet, glasses, keys, etc.) around with me. I knew that my High Sierra bag would be pretty well stuffed and fairly heavy, so I needed a solution. In searching around, I came across the portable, fold-up pack genre. As most of us do, I read a bunch of reviews and then tried to sort out what reviewers' comments really meant to me. Not always easy. However, the pack got some great reviews and seemed to match up well with my intended purpose. So, during the airplane travel portion of my trip, it remained folded up and either clipped to the outside of my pack with a carabiner or stuffed inside while on the plane itself. Squeezing the air out of the folded allows it to compress a little more to fit in tighter spaces. At my destination, I unfolded it, threw in all my necessary stuff and used it like a purse.Because I don't carry a ton of stuff normally there was still plenty of room to throw in store purchases, carry a sweatshirt, etc. This pack is working out perfectly for my needs. I've used it on a subsequent trip in a similar fashion and am still happy with the performance.Because this is a lightweight pack, don't expect to carry a lot of weight, but do expect to carry a lot of lightweight stuff. Lots of pockets make it easy to keep small stuff organized. And, I'll also give a nod to the company. They sent me a well-written follow-up email with FAQs and politely asked for a review after explaining all the procedures to ensure that I had received my pack and was happy with it. Kudos to Jessie -- much more thoughtful then, Hey, give us a 5 star review."
I bought this backpack to kind of replace my purse after I had a baby and I live in a 3rd floor walk up apartment. Carrying the baby, diaper bag and purse was a lot, if I had anything else it was unmanageable. I would put off stopping for any grocery items because it was too much to carry. I would stop and buy coffee instead of bringing my travel mug because it was too much. I thought if I could use a backpack it would solve some of these issues and I could put small grocery items in it and put it on my back to carry. I wanted something lightweight and not huge. This backpack is awesome. It's only as big as the amount of stuff you have in it! It's water resistant so even in the rain I don't have to worry about my stuff getting ruined. It's very lightweight nylon but it fits so much! It's durable and has come in so useful I cannot rave enough. I'm buying another one for my husband, he is a chef and walks to and from work. He carries his knife kit and a change of clothes with him in a backpack but his Jansport is bulky, especially if he doesn't have much in it. I use this bag every single day, I got rid of my purse and my diaper bag and I only use this now. I've had it for about a month and it is showing no signs of wear and tear.
Cute little backpack for everyday use. It comes all zipped up like a tiny carrying pouch, but it's just the bag turned inside out and zipped up! Pretty ingenious design. There are a few smaller sections on the outside with their own zippers and a few places on the sides with netting, for drinks or other things. In the main part of the bag, it's all one big open area except there is a very large, open pouch that would be ideal for sliding a rolled up beach towel into.I'm going to use mine at the beach or any time I want to go sightseeing and travel light. I can keep my purse items, camera, snacks and drinks, maps and whatnot and just head out for the day. It's a great little backpack but I'm guessing it is not meant to carry a heavy load. You wouldn't want to take this on the Appalachian Trail as your main pack. And it was shipped expediently. I have Prime, but I ordered it on Friday evening. Got it Monday around noon! Can't complain about a thing. Oh! And it comes with a lifetime warranty and the company is very keen on making sure you are very happy with the item. Can't go wrong with this pack.

It seems a bit goofy to pack a day pack in your carry on bag but that's what I do and this little pack has worked out perfectly. The issue is that my regular carry on backpack is heavy, it is not waterproof and it was expensive (Briggs). So if I go somewhere far away and what to take off for a hike I want a light day pack that is (preferably) waterproof and that I won;t worry about beating up. I've taken this one to Central America twice, SE Asia twice and used it for over a year on night hikes locally where I just need something to carry camera batteries, drinks, and a snack. I'm rough on this kind of gear and the fabric seemed too thin to last but it has held up really well considering it is so light. I expect another year or so. I cut off all the silly loops and extra straps, taped the shoulder straps and made a couple of other mods -- I would get another one in a heartbeat.
A day pack was needed for a recent holiday trip. While this one had a good price and color, it was questionable whether it would really be worth taking. Well, it was! It was a perfect daypack since it held my purse, rain jacket, regular jacket, water bottle and travel guide. The straps were adjustable and did not cut or bind. The sternum strap was well positioned and added to the comfort of the pack. When done, it folded neatly back into the zipper pocket. The directions were helpful but became intuitive after the second time. While this pack would not be suitable an an everyday school backpack, it is perfect when traveling and needing a sturdy, lightweight day pack.
I spent 12 days hiking around Israel, and this product was great as my day pack. It has several loops that enabled me to attach important items I needed easy access to (like my water bottle), and it has three zippered compartments that made organization simple. For travel, I packed essentials that I would need overnight on my international flight. I put it inside my carryon and just pulled it out once I got on the plane to keep at my feet. my pack looks just as good as it did when I left. It weighs next to nothing but it holds a lot.
This backpack is perfect. I use it for short trips as carry on luggage and so far have avoided carry on fees. It was able to fit 2 pair sandals, 1 pair canvas shoes, 5 outfits and my toiletries. During the day emptied it out to carry my essentials needed for the day. I bought one for my father n law for his trip to Africa to use as a day pack. The bag is not meant to last forever with frequent use (given its cheap price). This is my second bag. Overall its a great cheap alternative to the bigger name brand day packs.
I am sincerely blown away by this backpack. It is clear that whoever designed it put so much thought and consideration into it. So much attention to every detail and the design. It is super light weight. Beautiful. So many strategically placed pockets. It is clear that someone has done an exceptionally thorough job designing this backpack. Well made, too. AMAZING!I am so happy I saw these. It's exactly what I wanted. And such a bargain for what you get.I am happy I bought two of these - in black and red colors.
I wanted a new backpack to use as a carry-on for an upcoming trip. Lots to choose from. I finely narrowed it down to this one and a much more expensive backpack from Eagle Creek. Went with the Eagle Creek because I like their stuff. Then I went back and bought this inexpensive backpack for my wife. There were some comments about me getting the expensive one and giving her the cheap one. But after she used it on our trip, she admitted she loved it. So five stars for this backpack. Have to admit, I like it too. For the price you can't go wrong. Folds up really small and holds a lot of stuff when opened. Makes a good backup backpack.
This is a fantastic backpack for light loads -- I haven't yet traveled with it (I used it to replace an oft-overburdened shoulder bag) but I suspect that the thin and tough material would make great as an extra bag to stuff in your luggage -- it folds up very, very small.Pros:-Small-Light-Tough-Mostly great design -- pockets and netting exactly where I need it.Cons:-the top most pocket has a thin "flap" over the zipper to hide the zipper and make the bag more aesthetically pleasing. Because the bag material is so thin, this flap *constantly* gets stuck in that zipper. This is the only complaint I have about the bag, but it is quite irritating -- at the very least it makes using that pocket a pain in the ass, at worst it could wear enough on the flap to potentially cause it to tear (time will tell).Overall -- this bag is an excellent value for the money and I wouldn't think twice about getting another if I had cause to. I've already recommended it to a few people and am very happy with it -- I hope in a future iteration of the bag they omit the zipper flap on the top pocket, though.
We returned Sept 10th from a 2 week British Isle cruise and my husband used your backpack every day!!! He brought his heavy duty backpack for the plane with the Packable Backpackpacked neatly inside. Once on the ship, we filled it with our needs for just THAT days excursion. It is so lightweight yet practical and was perfect for our needs without the excessive weight of aheavy duty backpack. The previous cruise his shoulders got so sore with the weight of a heavyBackpack. The backpack was such a great improvement..... BTW my husband is74 yrs old and less strain on his back and shoulder was wonderful! He commented several timesabout how this backpack was so great! So Happy I found it on ...... Thanks!
I was looking for a lightweight day pack for a trip to the tropics. This pack was everything I'd hoped it would be. Very light, but with ample size and a great, sturdy fabric. It was perfect holding a couple beach towels, a change of clothes, a small purse, sunglasses case, and some snacks. It also worked very well while traveling, as I prefer to carry a small backpack instead of a purse. The small top compartment was just right for my passport and boarding passes, as well as my cell phone and glasses. There are secure inner pockets, too, for a wallet or other things you don't need right at hand. The main compartment had ample room for my Kindle, wallet, toiletries bag, chargers, a scarf, and a fleece jacket. This pack is a great value!
This thing is awesome. For the price, this is excellent. Some have complained that it comes apart too quickly, but I bought a similar bag from REI for twice this price and several parts broke or ripped immediately. I expect to wear this out, but I'll just buy another since the price is great. I love that it folds into itself so I can take it with me when I travel. Also, I dig that I can put my canteen on the side and access it immediately. My other bag didn't have that so I had to open it up to grab my water. Also, this has several compartments on the outside, and that's another thing my more expense hiking bag was missing. Love this thing.
I bought this bag for our 5 day family vacation to Yosemite National Park. It is perfect for me, 5'2" 114 lb. I put all the items I might need in it for our daily hikes, such as sunglasses, reading glasses, wallet, cell phone, several pill bottles, (like vitamins, ibuprofen, etc.) portable battery charger, cell phone cables; etc. the mesh pockets hold my thermos bottles perfectly. (Bottles do not pop out like my old backpack which is 20L). I'd say I keep a good 15 to 20lbs stuff in it everyday and it didn't weigh me down. The chest strap works so well they don't slide off of my shoulders. Very happy with it.
This pack is perfect for traveling. I'm very happy I bought it. It weighs almost nothing and fits into a very small space in my suitcase when I don't need it. Despite its lightweight material and construction, it's durable. It has served me well for a month on an Africa safari and a month in Australia and New Zealand. The pockets and inside compartment are handy. It will NOT keep the contents dry in a hard rain. Put your stuff in ziploc bags inside the pack if wet weather is forecast.
I purchased this bag in September 2016 to use for the gym and I absolutely love it; it's very light, portable and the compact feature is an added bonus if I think I may need an extra bag on my trips. Recently, a rip appeared along the zipper and I was a little disappointed. However, that changed when I checked to see if this product had warranty; yes it does. Once I contacted the seller, (s)he was very responsive (more responsive than I was) and was able to resolve the issue promptly; the turn around time to process a replacement item was less than 24 hours. So instead of giving the bag 4/4.5 stars, 5 stars is definitely warranted as the customer service is superb. So in short, this item is a great product and if you happen to get a defective one, the seller will respond to you promptly. I will definitely recommend this product to other people.
I will be using this for an upcoming trip, but it seems like it will be perfect for my needs. It's made very nicely, the color matches the advertisement, and the size is what I wanted for carrying some basic clothing, etc... and still fit under seat in front of me on plane. Will update if anything differs later.UPDATE: I used it for trip & it was great!! It held a lot more than expected (if fold & stack) and fit nicely under seat in front of me on plane.
We bought this for carrying goodies back to our live-aboad sailing boat. Space is important to us. We wanted a bag that could be folded away neatly, carried with us while we walk around marinas and used to carry groceries, comfortably, back to the boat. We looked for low weight, high strength, a good useful capacity and versatility in terms of pockets. So this bag meets all the specs. It seems to be high quality. It's actually a good volume. Just about right for a lot of groceries or to carry laundry and the like. The seams are solid. It is actually comfortable to carry, loaded up with stuff. .. It folds away simply and quickly, one you know how to do it. You end up with a neat little soft pod to shove somewhere when not in use. I would guess the material is not 100% water proof, but is certainly rain proof. So you wouldn't take it scuba diving, or swim with it to shore, but you certainly would not worry about things inside it, getting wet while carrying groceries in a rain storm. Price is good. Can't fault it really...
I bought this pack to travel in India. It held up with no rips, noticeable deterioration, or malfunctions. It holds quite a bit (volume) while being very flexible and very light, The straps are soft on the shoulders and easily adjustable. The pick-up strap (shown in the picture) is strong, easy to use, and sturdy. I worried about the lack of a stiff bottom, but I had no issues with wear on the bottom, and the lack of extra weight is nice.Regarding the zipper comments of other writers: All of the zippers are strong and work easily with the exception of the top-pocket zipper -- Yes, this one pocket does catch rather easily on the cover flap whenever I forget to pay attention to sliding it carefully. This is because the material is all so lightweight. On the other hand, because the material is so lightweight, it is just as easy to un-catch (fix) the zipper as it is to catch it. In spite of the zipper catching so much (say 8 of the 30 times per day I zipped/unzipped that pocket), it never jammed badly once, nor was there any deterioration of the material that was stuck. I emphasize that the top zipper to get in to the main section and the bottom pocket zipper are double zippers with no flap and do not catch. Only the top-pocket zipper has this minor issue. This is a good price for a good-sized, light-weight , comfortable, and surprisingly-sturdy pack
This is one of my most favorite travel purchases and pieces ever. It weighs nothing and has held up well, even after cramming it to the brim with baby junk on flights. It has enough places to let me remain organized with my belongings and the kid's accouterments. I literally just pulled no less than twelve Ziplock bags full of partially eaten organic cheddar dinos and could easily spare room for a dozen more.I've used it as my go-to carry on the last eight flights I've taken, as well as a substitute catch all on vacation to hold my wallet, sunscreen, water bottles, books and diaper bag essentials.
Got this during lighting deal and it was a great buy. It is not the type you can expect to last for a long time. I expected to use it a few times only. It is light and compact (when folded up). Just like what other reviewers have posted, there is no padding. However, this makes it really light and perfect for day trip. I was able to put quite a bit of stuffs into it, along with two big liter bottles. I love the straps on the side so I can secure the bottles. Another big plus, it is water resistance!
I purchased this backpack to send to Haiti. I have sponsored a young man for 9 years through a local mission who delivers his backpack directly to him (I get pictures of him several times a year, waiting for the backpack pic). I needed lightweight and big to fill with goodies for him. I was surprised with the amount of items I was able to fit in the backpack (inflated standard soccer ball, gallon size baggies of toiletries, gallon size bag of school supplies, 4 pairs of socks, 2 giant bags of skittles, notebook, 2 t-shirts and some small misc. items. The backpack HAD to be lightweight and it is, I am surprised how much I fit in it and there was still room! When I originally opened it, I thought it was tiny. It was wrinkled from being folded up. So thrilled with my purchase - I know someone who will be even more thrilled. He and his family thankfully survived the hurricane.??
Just back from my first trip with the . It worked great as a "personal item" on my United flights, and as my daily backpack while touring the cities I was visiting. On the flights, I used it to hold my electronics (Kindle, iPad and earbuds) and snacks because I could easily stash it on the floor under the small commuter flight seats. While touring around the city streets, it was super for holding a water bottle, hand sanitizer, snacks, a packable rain jacket, hat, sunglasses, etc. It has no padding so I needed to be careful about what I packed in it and how I used it, but I knew that ahead of time and packed accordingly.Another big deal is that it's so lightweight and packable, itself, that I could easily stash it in my larger carry-on until I got through security screening. I then pulled it out, filled it with what I needed to readily access during the flight before boarding. Excellent!
It folds into the pouch easily and seems to be made in the same rugged fashion as the other packs. I haven't used this one much yet, but have used a smaller red that folds into a very small pocket relative to its size. The smaller pack takes the considerable abuse I've given it with not a hint of problems. I use that one to haul groceries on my motorcycle, so it's frequently loaded with gallon of milk, half gallon of OJ, canned goods, etc, with no complaints. I've expected a zipper to let loose, especially when packing it into the pocket, but all's well so far.
This has been a great find! I mainly needed a lightweight packable day pack to stick in my main pack for a backpacking trip I'm planning. I'll need a day pack for a day or two on this trip, and this is the perfect pack for that. As others have said, it is lightweight, and so it obviously doesn't offer the support other, more substantial packs offer. But if you want something light that folds up small, is ready quickly, and will hold a surprising amount of gear, this is the ticket! It's got pockets in all the right places. There's even an interior pouch that can hold flat objects OR a water bladder. Note, however, that there is NOT a dedicated pass-through for a water bladder hose. (That's the ONE thing I've found that would make a great addition to this bag. I seems like it would be very simple to add, and it would really add to the functionality of the bag.) The main compartment has a double zipper, so I closed the zippers at the top of the pouch and fed the water hose through the opening between them. That seems to work fine. Otherwise, I've found that it works great on any day hike or outing. Water bottles (including 1L Nalgenes and Camelbaks) fit comfortably in the side pouches. It's really easy to organize your stuff like you want it. You don't want to let it get too heavy, since there is no hip belt to help support the weight, but it sits pretty comfortably on the shoulders as is. It doesn't have fancy airflow pockets around your back, but, really, what do you expect for something that folds down to the size of a medium book and weighs about 11-12 oz?Overall, a GREAT pack. I've been really happy with it, and I'm looking forward to using it on my backpacking trip!
Lightweight, water resistant, comfortable shoulder straps with a chest strap for stability, and lots of compartments, including two for water bottles. What's not to like?!This pack is exactly as described. So if you're looking for a backpack that's waterproof, will hold enough clothes &/or gear for a week, or will carry 40 pounds day after day without showing wear, then THIS IS NOT THE PACK FOR YOU.However, of you're looking for one that's relatively small and very lightweight that folds to pack in nearly no space at all and will handle some stuff or a few items of clothing for day trips or as overflow luggage, this IS THE PACK FOR YOU!
This backpack held up through some rough hikes and a lot of traveling. Being able to fold it down into a small pouch is great for travels and for storing it when not in use at home.It is water resistant (NOT water proof), and liquids rolls off easily. The chest strap is adjustable in height and width, which is great! My only con for this back pack is there is not much structure, so you'll need to be filling it for it to feel sturdy on your back. On my summer-day hikes, I end up bringing a rain coat and sweater just so I can fill it and balance it out. I feel like this would be a great camping/multi-day hike pack, since you would have enough to fill it.
I purchased this bag for use as a day pack during my trip to Bali. I wanted something compact, light weight, and durable to hold up to the travel and weather of the tropical island and I was not disappointed. The bag packs down very small which made it easy to stuff into my luggage without taking up much room. It folds up nicely into the front pocket of the pack and its very easy to do, never taking me more than 30 seconds to get it packed up.During my trip in Bali, the bag survived a few light rain storms with no problems at all. All the contents inside the pack were still dry after about 15 minutes of light rain. This pack has plenty of storage space if you need it. I was able to pack inside my rain jacket, GoPro and gear, two water bottles, snacks and sandals with plenty of room left over. I never had any issues with the comfort of the pack and it always seemed secure against my body.If you're looking for a good day pack that you can use for traveling, look no further.
This is the best travel backpack. It is REALLY light weight. The comments about how the zippers are done are SO true. My mom bought a very similar product but it had the little "coverings" over the zippers - and I cannot even count the number of times her zipper got caught. Mine never did. It holds quite a bit. Two separate pockets are perfect for phone/wallet on the top and travel pillow on the bottom. The mesh pockets on the sides are a little too small for a full water bottle, but a small or thin one fits nicely
This backpack was truly a worthwhile purchase. It folds up into a little pouch which is easily packable in a suitcase, and it unfolds into a sturdy, full-size backpack! It has ample pockets, and it was surprisingly roomy. I thought a packable backpack would be smaller, but was pleasantly surprised. It's easy to carry, lightweight, and seems durable and well-made. I carried it on day trips all around Thailand and there was plenty of space for guidebooks, extra layers, souvenirs, water bottles, and everything I could need to carry around for a day of exploring. I'm sure I'll be using it for years to come.
I bought this almost a year ago for a 4 day trip to Colorado and it has just been great. I was trying to fly as cheap as possible and so I packed literally everything for my trip into this bag, even extra shoes a dslr camera and go pro with attachments, and it was considered a 'personal item' on frontier airlines where they will charge you if you have even a carry-on. To clarify, a personal item is free I believe on pretty much any airline, even the ones that charge for a carry-on. The bag does expand a fair amount. Since going to Colorado I have used it basically for any other trip or excursion that requires a bag bigger than my satchel purse. I've carted around my 15 in laptop in the back sleeve (which I don't recommend doing unless you have the laptop still protected by a laptop sleeve as the bag material is thin). The only issue I have had in it is when there is so much in it I have had one of the straps come loose from the adjuster thing (IDK what it is called) but I was carrying it with only one strap at the time which meant that it fell off of me. Not good if you have anything breakable in there. However, to combat this there is a chest strap that buckles so that is a good safety precaution to prevent the bag from just falling off if the strap comes loose. So, in conclusion, I've had this almost a year and I love it, definitely worth the $20 as it is still holding strong and I have found that it has worked for just about any situation I've needed a backpack or extra bag for.
I bought this pack because my 20-year old daughter liked the one I had before so much she took it to college! I think it's an incredible value. I used the pack on a recent bicycle trip and it exceeded expectations. Not a thread unraveled, and there were no signs of wear after 2 weeks of constant use. It weighs nothing and easily tucks into its own little pocket-pouch. I liked the variety of sizes and colors available (my wife bought a larger one and was just as pleased). Don't hesitate on this one.
For my petite frame(5', 135 lb, 38 chest, This pack fit so well I did not want to take it off. It will pack so well, In my small suitcase. I bought this for excursions for off ship, and day pack items I need everyday. I have a few personal items a sweater, rain jacket, hat etc, extra pair of socks, a DSLR, and it's accessories. mini i pad. That and so much more will keep well in multiple pockets. I like that the fabric is not flimsy nylon like some day packs. The only thing missing is a way to insert an ID card, I will most certainly put a luggage tag inside. One more thing most day packs I have had in the past have shallow water bottle pockets; Not long or deep enough for a bottle. This has suitable pockets mesh for standard size bottles. and Bottle wont tip out ! I especially like the chest strap and the contoured shoulder straps.

I bought a couple of these for a family vacation to make sure folks only packed a back pack. Their fabric looked unsubstantial when they were first opened, but they easily withstood 2 weeks of tossing, packing, squeezing, mud, ketchup etc.The zippers worked without getting stuck, the many configurations of the backstraps made them comfortable for the body shapes using them. The outside pockets were handy. Both of them were taken home by the people they were loaned to.
Very lightweight and easy to refold into its pack. Side pockets easily fit 16 oz water bottles that we had to carry for the day. Unfortunately got caught in a downpour for about an hour. My partner made the mistake of putting the pack on damp ground for about 10 minutes. Everything on the bottom of the pack was wet when we unpacked it later. I think it would keep contents dry in a light sprinkle but certainly not in a downpour, which I expected. Bought for use on a 6 day treking trip to be used as a short hike pack.

3 year update:.So, it's been nearly 3 years since I bought this backpack (shy 2 months). I use this thing ALL. THE. TIME. It is so useful to carry all of my little necessities when I venture into New York City for the day or go for a hike in the mountains, or a day at the beach. I always take it with me when I go to a theme park or on vacation. It's great because when not in use it folds up into itself into a neat little pack that I just hook to my jeans with a caribeener and it weighs about an ounce. My family all kept trying to "borrow" it, so I ended up buying 3 more to give as gifts and they all love this bag too. It holds quite a bit for a small bag and after (nearly) 3 years of heavy use, it is still in great condition - no rips or tears in the fabric - no unraveling seams...Original review:. Loved this backpack on vacation in Orlando. Super light weight, roomy, and comfortable to wear all day in the parks.
Backpack was very useful for my trip last week. I used it for a 3 night trip in another town while leaving my large suitcase at the hotel. Surprisingly can hold a lot (3 outfits, toiletries, camera, camera lens, water bottle, extra flip flops, and some other stuff) and didn't tear.Took off a star for the following reasons:1. Not meant for an 8hr hike as there is no padding in the straps (my shoulders were extremely sore)2. Carabiner was useless - clasp part is very flimsy and easily opens making you lose what you had attached on itOverall a great bag that is lightweight and easily foldable/packable.
VERY STRONG 4*sCould be a 5 with only 2 exceptions.I was surprised by the quality and added features of this pack. It's additional smaller compartment pockets are large enough to be useful, the hydration pocket is minimal (just a sewn in patch of light nylon with no tab or loop to suspend a hydration pack) but it IS there and that's a nice touch on a fold up pack.Only 2 cons I've seen so far; there's no pass through for the hydration pouch. Not a big deal but if there's a hydration bladder pocket and loops on the shoulder straps for routing hydration tubes why not a pass through for the hydration tube? You'll have to run the zippers slightly open. The pack IS capable of folding EVEN smaller and tighter. However because the pack uses the lower front pocket inverted to hold the pack when it's "stuffed" it's larger than it could be when it's in its stowed/stuffed form.
I used this backpack on day trips on a trip to South Africa and Zimbabwe. It was great for packing whatever I needed for the day and was just right size and nice and light but also strong. I also used it as a carry on for two internal flights that had strict size limitations and packed it so full that it was heavy. It stood up to everything I gave it. The pockets are organized well. I love it and look forward to using it often.
This is my second bag. They are strong and durable. I've had my first for almost two years. I use the bag everyday to haul around gym gear and meals for work. It holds a ton and weighs nothing except for whatever you're hauling around. Packs itself into a little pouch for storage. I especially like the pockets on the side to hold beverages.
Pros:1. This backpack is extremely lightweight and perfect for bringing as a small back-up piece of luggage when traveling light2. This backpack is a workhorse, despite its light weight. We stuffed a lot of stuff into this backpack and never had any issues with the zippers, straps, or anything.3. It folds up into a small zipped pocket that can easily be attached to another piece of luggage when not in use.4. The price is right and suited our needs perfectly!Cons:1. It's definitely not waterproof. Since we ended up traipsing through the rain more often than we would have cared, we just kept everything inside in plastic bags. That worked great for keeping the contents dry and the backpack dried easily overnight.2. Because of its light weight, it is light on padding and definitely not the most comfortable to tote around long distances.Would I recommend it to a friend? Absolutely, but only as a back-up piece of luggage.
I use this backpack for trips with my kids. It will hold a ton of stuff. I always have a first kit, at least one change of clothes for each of my kids (two), a handful of snacks, sunscreen, water and whatever trip specific things that I need and there is always room for more stuff. Even when it is full, it sits on your back well and has never felt uncomfortable or heavy. I've had it for about a year now and it still looks brand new. Great item.
I ordered the smaller one so I thought, but I ordered from my phone and it ordered the larger one. I tried to cancel the order but was to late, and I am very happy I was not able to cancel this order. The bad did come with the zippers split, so I was not to sure of the quality, but after unfolding and running the zipper up and down to fix the bag seems to be just fine. Super happy with this purchase, and look forward to day trips now! No more string bags that hurt and stink to use.
This bag arrives my door pretty fast! I did many comparisons and read many reviews about this bag before buying it. It is like many of the reviews described. It is truly lightweight and durable! I like the stylish design of the bag. It has many pockets and the curve of the bag lays on my back very smoothly. The new purple color is deeper then what the picture shows. It is quite pretty and easy to match with different color clothing. I will use it for my travel.
Great day outing bag or day hiking bag. There is no padding in this bag so i don't recommend using it for longer trips. I needed something to haul workout clothes in and this is the perfect bag. I'm able to fit a pair of shoes and clothes in it. It is a bit smaller than I expected but it works great. I love that it can fold up and be put in another bag. It takes up about the same space as a t-shirt so you can easily pack it in another bag for extra space on a trip.I have included a picture of it folded up and one next to a normal book bag. It is a little smaller but not a lot.

I bought two of these backpacks for our Rio trip. One in red, one in green. The bags were with us during day trips, beach trips, hiking, and sightseeing. Not only they are extremely light, they carry a ton of stuff. Several compartments, zipped parts, adjustable padded straps are all awesome. I cannot recommend the bag enough. I am sure we are going to use them for lots of stuff (for instance it is my new gym bag now) but they'll always remind me of our time in Brazil.
I was looking for something small and light to use as my daypack on my trips. This has been perfect. It's very light and I can fold it up and clip it to my hiking bag. It's a great size when it's unfolded and it's hearty (no tears yet and I'm rough on these). I haven't tested the water resistance yet. It's a light bag, so there is little padding. When I have my camera in there I make sure to wrap it up for extra protection. I'm really happy with my purchase!
This backpack served me very well. I needed a lighter backpack than my thick cloth school one, since I was headed to Israel for three months and that included days of field time. This backpack is light and durable - held my Nalgene securely in either of the side pockets, and sat comfortable on my back. I'm still using it now, despite returning home. I wouldn't recommend it as a school notebook, since it has minimal padding (per expectation) and so isn't super comfortable for carrying large books. But for carrying clothes, food, etc - perfect!
I bought this bag as a carry on for a trip to Iceland. I needed to be very careful about weight and size restrictions on an economy air liner. For a four day international trip this bag proved itself many times over. I wouldn't recommend the straps for shoulder use for more than a few minutes as they have no padding, but holding enough clothes, toiletries, tripod and camera for four days was perfect. He bag sat in the car while we hiked so I wore it on my shoulders only a few times...through the airports, walking to and from our hotels.
I bought a purple bag in May to use on our vacation.... excellent for carrying my stuff. You can cram tons of stuff in the bags. Looks great when you just have a small amount or filled to the brim. Color was excellent. Love the pockets. Especially the little pocket in the straps (lip balm!) and mesh pockets on the sides (water bottles, quick grab small items). Very comfortable to carry this bag on one shoulder or like a traditional back pack. Easy to wash, dries quickly. Also used it for our hikes. Comfortable to carry the family's water bottles and snacks. Distributes weight evenly on your back. Not hot. I loved this bag so much, I bought another one in blue last month for next years vacation... first one is in perfect shape, but couldn't resist the gorgeous blue!!!!
I recently bought this back pack in blue, to use as part of a gift for a needy child/teen. Each year, we contribute to a ministry called, "Samaritan's Purse." At Christmastime, millions of shoe boxes are sent all over the world to needy children and teens. I try to get a lot into the boxes we pack. School supplies are very needed, and this back pack is so compact that it allows for a lot of other items to be put into the box. Honestly, I had purchased the basic, canvas-type back packs for this purpose, but they are bulky and take up a lot of space. (I wish I saw the back pack first, but now I know for next year.) I am so happy with this purchase--so much so that I just ordered another back pack in red, and I will likely buy more before the summer is up. It is amazingly functional, well-made, comes in many colors, folds up to a handy size. It is a great idea to keep in your suitcase as an extra bag for traveling back home, when you need more space. Great product!
This is an awesome backpack. I abused it a lot on my backpacking trip across India and Sri Lanka, and it held up very well, it got really dirty and I just threw it in the washing machine. When I don't need it I can fold it into a nice pouch and it fits in my Osprey fairpoint and does not take up much space. The backpack secures in place with straps, lightweight, durable and I was able to carry quiet a bit of stuff. I wish they added a mesh pouch to the shoulder straps as well like did on the sides.
This review is going to be mixed.I bought this to replace my everyday backpack which serves as briefcase, lunchbox, man purse, etc. After a few days, I went back to my old one.The selling point of this backpack being able to fold up to roughly pocket size means it's pretty flimsy. I don't mean that in a "cheap" way, rather that it doesn't sit up on a table for you to pack/unpack. So that's a little annoying. Also, "flimsy" (sp?) doesn't mean poorly made. It's not.So, I repurposed the bag for a recent vacation and it worked quite well as a carry on and a bag to take to the beach/pool and excursions. There's the good and the not-so-good.
Being lightweight was a real plus. At first glance it strikes you as a bit flimsy, wrong. This day pack is awesome. It held a spare jacket, phone, passport, wallet, sunscreen and lotion, small towel and 2 bottles of water. Amazing. We went hiking up a few volcanoes in South America and it held everything I needed. Bought one for my husband too, he couldn't believe how handy it became for him. Well worth the price I paid.
Took it on a recent trip to Colorado and Utah, using it both on the airplane and hiking. It held up very well with good straps, stitching, and zippers--as well as very many useful compartments for organizing and storing stuff, which particularly helped on the plane flights. And not at all bad looking considering how inexpensive it is. It's not a great backpack if you're going to expose it to a lot of stress as you would in extensive hiking, but for light duty it is wonderful for the price.
This is the sixth of these daypacks by New that we have purchased in the last year (we have crowds of visitors, and since we let our visitors take home some of the gear we provide if they want to, at the end of their visit, we find ourselves needing to replenish our stock of these). We love them. They fold down to a very portable size for throwing into a backpack or suitcase, but hold enough for day-long outings. The only downside is that the rain flaps over the zippers do tend to get stuck in the zippers, a minor irritation. There are two relatively easy solutions: first, pay attention and fold the rain flap out of the way before working a zipper; second, once it has caught, don't try to go backwards to free the cloth that is caught; instead, clear the path ahead and simply keep zipping without cloth in the way, and the cloth that is stuck will be freed once you get an inch or two beyond it.
I carried this bag with me everyday on my 4-day trek to Machu Picchu, and it never failed me. Through rain, hail, and snow, this bag was my trusty companion that kept all of my belongings safe. It's the perfect size and can carry many items--I brought only this with me on my two-week trip to Peru, no other luggage or bags--and can fit beneath an airplane seat, even when packed to the brim. I loved (and still love!) all of the space and different compartments that this bag has inside it, the chest strap (really helped relieve my shoulders while I was hiking), its durability (like I said before, this bag made it through rain, hail, and snow while keeping all my items inside of it dry), and how easy it is to carry around with it being light and having the ability to be folded up. This bag will definitely come with me on more hikes and trips.
Holy cow this thing is durable. Went through 7 months of backpacking and being exposed to all the elements. There were plenty of opportunities for it to fall apart under strain, and even after machine washing it's like new. Folds up really small and weighs very little but can carry a lot both volume and weight. I've filled it to its max for hiking and overnight adventures and was still comfortable to carry.Update:I'm still regularly using this bag for day hikes when I travel as well as every weekend getaway. The great size (35L) and all the pockets and compression straps make it really easy to pack whatever I need and stay organized. I've machine and hand washed it many more times and it's still in new condition. There isn't a seam loose. It's comfortable to carry and fulfills all my backpack needs. I love solid products like this.
I went on a road trip with my kids and this backpack was a life saver. It was so amazing with all the little pockets and clips. The shoulder straps did not slide out of the harness. They were also easy to tighten while on my back. I used this backpack for convenience as opposed to a purse and it fit a great deal of stuff in it. I put in four changes of clothes for the kids and I. My wallet, pull-ups, wipes, desitin, hand sanitizer, kindle, snacks, hotel information, car keys, water bottle, and some other odds and ends. There is a laptop pocket inside which provides a good separation between the main pocket and the back pocket. The backpack is very light weight and a great great deal for the price.
Love this pack. I bought my first one 4 years ago and it is still going strong, but my daughter now steals it. This has lasted me well during day trips nearby. Also love that I can easily pack it in my suitcase for day trips when I travel, and then use it to help bring back souvenirs on the plane. Like the fact that this one has the reflector too.
Review after one 4-day trip of air travel and urban walking: extremely lightweight, sturdy and well-designed for compartmental use and maximizing capacity of space. not for heavy-weight carries or pointy objects. carried about 10lbs/4.5kg, including a laptop as a personal item on an airline flight and met size limits perfectly. was comfortable enough to wear on my back at that weight (~10lbs/4.5kg) for several city blocks, but I wouldn't carry that much weight for longer hauls. It's intended as a day pack for much lighter-weight carries. water resistant, not waterproof (things pressed up against sides of pack stayed dry in light rain but got damp in moderate rainfall). great buy, especially at a modest price point.
Used it on a long weekend as a daypack. It is very spacious, and how it folds out is just awesome. It can hold way more than you would assume by looking at it. Since it is so lightweight, it allowed me to pack a few extra items when I went through the airport. The straps are decently comfortable and I don't mind them. One thing to note though, is that there is ZERO padding on the back of the bag, meaning anything you put in the bag will be jammed against your back in really uncomfortable pressure points. To remedy this a bit, I put a couple padded mailers in the laptop pocket to act as back padding. That's really my only complaint though.
Works great as a work bag for me. I am able to fit my lunch bag, current book, and my wallet with ease. I am also able to carry my empty coffee cup out of work at the end of the day. I was previously using a laptop bag that I had from college and it was really heavy. This is much more lightweight and comfortable on my back. I'm glad I made the purchase.
I purchased this for our 2-week trip to Hawaii. I needed something compact, yet durable when I needed to use it. This worked very well for our hikes and trips to the beach. I could fit everything we needed inside with no issues and it held up to sitting it down on rock and sand. Highly recommend if you need a bag that can be folded down and then stuffed with all your items when you're ready. Plus, the straps were comfy, which is always a problem for me since I'm only 5'1.
Folded small and very light. Quality of the bag is very sturdy. Use it for 10 days travel in Thailand (use comfortable in Bangkok Transit System train. Tuk Tuk. Elephant ride. River rafting etc) feel good. Have 1 main zipper for big items. We use to store 4 hats and kids jacket. Have upper front zipper for smaller item (we put gorilla pod) and have bottom zipper with inside pouch. Lots of roomThere are 2 water bottle holder on left and right. And small phone holder in strap
Awesome full sized water resistant lightweight packable ripstop nylon backpack. The ripstop nylon is water resistant NOT waterproof. There are 2 deep side mesh pockets for water bottles, protein shakes, coffee. There are also tie down straps that you can loop through the handle of your water bottles to prevent them fr falling out if you are bending/stooping over for whatever reason. There are 2 front zippered pockets. The bottom pocket has dual zippers which makes getting into the pocket easier and more convenient. Inside this pocket is a zippered mesh pocket as well as an unzippered pocket. . The top pocket has 1 zipper that goes from end to end which makes it easier to get your hand in and out. There are small mesh pockets on each strap that I put protein bars in. There is also a handle on top of the bag which makes it easier to pick up off the ground. Once inside you will find 1 large compartment and 1 back wall pocket that goes up halfway. What I really like about this backpack is that the softer ripstop nylon material used is not crunchy and noisy. I have tried other brands sold on and they were too crunchy and made too much noise. I liked this backpack so much that I purchased 7 as xmas/bday gifts in a variety of colors. The giftees loved the backpack. I have received many compliments on this backpack..If blue is your favorite color beware that there are 2 different shades if blue to choose from; a light blue and a dark blue.
I haven't tried to fold it back up, but I like that it's a possibility. I can pack it somewhere out of sight. What I really like is using it for carrying groceries, especially since I don't have a car and have to walk several blocks. I was afraid it wouldn't be able to hold up to heavier groceries, like cans, milk jugs, 6-packs, sacks of rice/beans/whatever., but it really does. You could probably fit a dozen cans in it. If you use it for grocery shopping, I'd recommend putting a piece of cardboard in the laptop sleeve to keep hard stuff from pinching and bruising your back.
Can't think of one thing I would change. It literally weighs nothing but is sturdy enough to handle the weight of whatever you stuff in each of it's perfectly placed pockets. Then you hang the whole thing from the top handle and can access whatever you need without having to unpack. Bought 2 for overnight trips and now am going to buy another to keep in my car for those times you just need portable storage.
It is small, but it is also very lightweight. I used it on a recent 6 day/5 night trip. Using packing cubes (2) I packed 5 shirts, 5 sets of underwear, socks, sleep shorts and T-shirt, toiletries, bag full of daily vitamins etc, charger and cables for phone/ipad (the gadgets were carried in a separate bag) and an extra pair of shoes (light Allbirds that didn't take up much room). It all fit and meant I could jam in under the airline seat if the overhead was full.I used to travel with a rolling carryon but have had some bad experiences where I was forced to gatecheck it and then the airline lost it when flights got cancelled. I like this better, especially for the price.
I saw this recommended on a YouTube channel & I'm so glad I ordered one! I love how it folds down to a small pack. I've recommended this backpack to anyone that compliments me on it. I love how lightweight it is & spacious. I'll be using this when traveling- either as part of my carryon or when I need it for shopping while out sightseeing. The straps are very sturdy & the shoulder straps are comfortable. I like that there is a lifetime guarantee on this- that says a lot about the quality of this product.
My church purchased 23 backpacks for kids who either have a parent in prison and or have been abandoned by their families. They live in a group home in Thailand with several house parents who love and care for them.Various people "adopted" a child and purchased a backpack and filled them with school supplies. I saw this style and suggested that people purchase this one because I was thinking about being overweight on our luggage. When the back pack arrived I realized I'd made the right choice. You can stuff a lot into this pack and it's pretty sturdy. The child who received this pack really liked it.It was an amazing trip and I can't wait to go back! Hopefully next year, I'll see these sweet kids again.
I bought 2 of these for my son and I to use while hiking in the backcountry in Western NC mountains. We used these as simple day packs and could not believe the space in these things. It was perfect size for a day hike. your basic essentials fit with room for more. They are very lightweight and when packed into its own little pocket it didn't take up any room in our main packs. We went an the Grandfather trail at Grandfather Mountain NC which is known to be one of the most technical hikes east of the Mississippi and the packs held up very well rubbing against boulders and trees while traversing through cracks and crevasses on the trail. I can't say it would hold up for days on end on a trail like that but for a day hike it was wonderful. I highly recommend this pack as a day pack for hikers!
Ordering was easy and the product arrived on time. Customer service and followup communication was excellent. This pack is exactly as advertised. Lightweight, portable/packable and durable, straps are adjustable for different size people. The number and size of pockets and compartments is quite adequate. It is ideal for traveling when a pack is needed for occasional day treks. I purchased 2 of these packs for my wife and I for an upcoming trip to Southeast Asia. As part of the trip, we will be embarking on a couple of overnight excursions to outlying rural areas. We will pack these day packs in our luggage, and will load them with just enough clothing and accessories to stead us for 2-3 days. We will also use them to bring home any souvenirs or purchases that won't fit in our regular luggage. I'm not sure this pack would be sufficiently durable to use for true backpacking; for that, I have another knapsack that is made of more heavy duty material and is waterproof (this is only water repellent). But for this particular use on this trip, the pack is perfect.
This is not a "sponsored" or compensated review. I am just a regular consumer. sent me an email from the manufacturer just now, asking me if I had tried out the new backpack. First of all, I was PLEASED that the color was not fuchsia, but a more dark-red-maroon color. I also purchased ebags small packing cubes and the colors were almost perfect match (not really important-but nice to have) I have not use the backpack yet. It was purchased to substitute for my Targus computer backpack that I have used for over 10 years (looks like new!). As I get older, I want a lighter load for my vacation trips. The backpack can be used for everything I do from walking to the grocery, and hauling back a gallon of milk, to general travel, overseas travel and as a day-pack anywhere. It DID seem a bit smaller than i had expected for a 35 Liter pack, however, this size keeps me in check and prevents over-packing!! What I plan to do is use this as my carry-on for overseas flights, and my nylon travel purse as the "personal" item. I will have my 26" lightweight spinner suitcase as the checked bag. This way, I keep all my stuff under the seat in front of me, and avoid the overhead bin completely.I plan to fill the main section with a change of clothing, perhaps 2-3 t shirts, my 8 inch tablet in a case, a vaVesta (sleep-vest-"pillow"-really nice). I should have room for a sweater or lightweight jacket. I plan to put a 3-1-1 small toiletry kit in the outside upper pocket. The lower outside pocket will be for headset and any other electronic things-charger (if my planes have chargers in coach!!!). This is the plan. I will try to remember to update this later on this year to see if it all worked. (I still love my Targus computer backpack, though and I am keeping it!!- it has traveled all over)
We paid for expedited shipping to try and get this bag before a hiking trip to Mexico, and were very disappointed that it came late, and didn't arrive until after we'd left which meant it just sat on our doorstep for a whole week. So if you're buying it for a trip don't procrastinate. At first I planned to send it back because we won't have any foreseeable use for it, but once I opened it up I changed my mind. This bag is awesome! It folds down really tiny, and zips into itself. You can't carry anything too heavy in it, but it would fit 2 rain jackets, at least 2 water bottles, passports/cell phones, camera, a few snacks, Chapstick, really whatever you'd need for a hike or a day trip to an amusement park. Great for bringing on trips because it's so light and won't add any extra weight to your baggage. We got the black and the color is nice. There's also a lot of separation of space to keep things organized. This would make a great present for anyone, really.
I. LOVE. THIS. BACKPACK!!!!!! If you are looking for a nice, lightweight, easy to store backpack then this is for you! The Large Packable Handy Lightweight Travel Backpack by is one of the best backpacks I have ever had. It is so easy to fold into itself and zip up for a nice compact tote that can be stored easily. It easily unfolds into a big backpack that I could easily fit 4 beach towels in. AWESOME backpack, I HIGHLY recommend!- I purchased this with my own money and did not receive any sort of discount.
