Ok I bought this for my lighter musky fishing, I used it all day throwing up to 3oz baits. It never missed a beat, not one bird nest smooth as silk.I teamed it up with 50 lb spider wire handled it perfect. I bought 125 years and there was quite a lot still on the spool. This is a perfect reel for the lighter musky stuff how will it handle a musky, we will see. How will it hold up? We will see. It is user friendly. My big musky reels and rods take there toll on my arms. If this reel holds up for one season fishing once a week 11 hours a day, I will be happy. If I get 2 years I will be in pardise. The pic below is one my grandson caugh 6/8/17 Here in Wv 41.5 17" rubber swimbaitJuly 2016 I have used this real very hard throw up to 4 ounce baits, has not missed a beat. I caught all these muskies in the pictures on this reel, handled them absolutely perfect. You need to take the spool out and put some grease down in the dog gear if you hear a grinding sound that will fix the problem. There is nothing wrong with the real it's just they are skimpy on their grease cost money you know. I am guess I have 40 hours of had use and it still doing great, there is no paint showing signs of wear either. I will give a update.
I go fishing a few times a week, and was looking for another reel to have another baitcaster setup. I currently have 2 Abu Garcia BlackMax 6.4:1 reels and some spinning setups, but was looking at trying something different. Between the high rating and the price, I thought I'd give this a try. The was not only $20+ cheaper, but also outperforms the Abu Garcias on every level - Less backlashes, smoother reeling, further casting distances. I'm just so happy with this reel, and can't wait to try out some of the other ones and ratios from .
I'm new to baitcasting and I am still practicing, whenever I get a chance. So, how do I know this is a good baitcaster if I haven't fished with it yet?First, I bought a baitcaster reel+rod combo for $85 in Walmart, about 2 years ago, because I really wanted to get in to learn baitcasting. It is a brand name, most fishermen would recognize, I won't say no more, because they do have excellent products, but some of the gear, what they make is just horrifyingly bad. So as a beginner, I started practicing on that and of course, all I was getting was backlashes and it just felt so useless and cheap. The entire practice was just a major frustration and I completely given up trying to learn and the rod+reel combo ended up in my garage and swore that I will never touch it again. This year, I changed my mind after watching others and here I am with 30+ years of fishing experience, but can't use a baitcaster. So I took the reel off the rod, and bought one of these. Still didn't want to get anything pro with 4x the price of this, because I was afraid, that this will also ends up in the garage or the trash and didn't want to waste to much money.Amazingly after like 20min (and after a couple of youtube videos), I started to get it. Of course I got some backlashes and my accuracy is way off, but this reel is just excellent and feels waaay better than the other brand-name /more expensive one! After a few days of practice now, I feel confindent to cast in short distances and my accuracy is improving to a point, that it almost feel like I got Jedi powers and I can hit individual beer cans from 50 feet!Lesson learned...brand name and expensive options may not guarantee quality.

This is the BEST reel that I have ever used. I have bought two additional reels, and each has performed equally well. It is smooth as silk. and I would compare this with top of the line reels from Shimano, Abu Garcia, Lews, and others.I've used both flurocarbon and braid on this reel,...both worked very well. The first time I had it out fishing, I caught a 7+ lb bass, and it worked like a champ!

I have owned many reels, to include many that were much more expensive than this. I have found this real to be equal to if not better than every reel I have ever owned. The action is smooth, the drag is as promised, and the build quality is greater than expected. You truly cannot go wrong with this reel. My boys and I now own 6 of these reels as well as spinning reels. I do not see myself ever purchasing a brand of reel besides . They have yet to let me down in any way and I for one appreciate their great products at more than fair prices.
This reel I bought was a fabulous deal! The price I paid for a reel of this quality would cost over $100 but I got for half that price from Eposeidon. This reel has 11 bearings making it the smoothest action I have had on ANY reel I currently or previously owned. I can cast up to almost 75 yards with 10 lb braid and a 1/2 oz weight. The drag is perfect and easily adjustable with the star drag. The reel holds lots of line and I have not had any issues whatsoever with this reel. I will be buying 2 more to compliment my fishing equipment and have the best reel available for the price i am paying! Well made reels by , you can't go wrong!!
Disclaimer, This is my first bait caster! Right out of the box it feels light and well put together. All the controls work smoothly and quitely. Watched a bunch of videos on set up and getting it dialed in. Spoiled it up with 20lbs test Spider Wire braid and headed for the lake. Using a mid depth crank bait the reel cast very easy and the retrieve was nice and fast. Got over confident and dialed some of the brake and spool tension back and got a little backlash. I was able to get that one out and continue fishing, then it happened. Backlash from hell! Note to beginners, leave the brakes and tension high till you are really comfortable. Will definitely look at more of their products.Update! Day two, set brakes higher and had great luck!
I got my new Stealth yesturday and the very next day I went out to test it out on the water. With 65lb powerpro and the brakes adjusted just right I can cast a 3/8 Jig pretty far. No backlashes on any of my casts which has surprised me big time, but when I casted my old Royal Legend it would backlash quite a few times. Overall it's smooth, strong and can't wait to test it out during the spring.
Really pleased with my purchased I was little hesitant about buying this reel on line.. It's been some time now and I've been fishing with it for a while I've got 50 lbs breaded line on it and Ive been amazed by my choice differently worth the money. And I've caught my personal best with this rod.
What more could you ask for. Out of the box the first thing you will notice is the reel is super light weight. The next thing you will notice is the sharp look of this reel. Black and gold with a carbon fiber handle that looks like it is worth what you pay for the reel alone. When you handle the reel you then notice the quality. Smooth and silent. I quickly loaded it with 14lb mono, turned both brakes up all the way and tied on a casting plug. After setting my cast control knob to the weight of my lure I did some practice casts in my snow covered yard. To my surprise I had to retrieve my plug from my neighbors yard. Can't wait to get this baby on the water and catch some Smallmouth.
I was a little sceptical of this product but after reading the reviews, I decided to try one. I received it in about 3 days and was very impressed with the fit and finish. I spooled it with 50# braid and took it fishing the following weekend. This thing will cast a country Mile and has a very smooth retrieval. I caught about 8 bass and notice that the spool control knob had fallen off. I called the number in the box and a very nice lady named Roslind answered the phone on the first or second ring. She gave me her email address to send her a picture of the reel so she could make sure to send me the correct part. She sent me a tracking number and said the parts was in the mail. That is customer service and I will definitely be buying more products from this company.
I got to use this reel and it is almost to smooth. Took a few minutes to get every thing set, but after that I am really impressed. It is so light and it performs as well if not better than some reels I have that cost me twice as much. My hat is off to the engineering crew at .
Just had a chance to play with this real and enjoyed it after taking a few minutes to adjust it before going to to water.
compact & lightweight, very smooth, high retrieval ratio, easy to lineI do River Fishing for catfish and stripers this reel will be perfect for it. very durable and quality made.
Well Built. Easy to configure for minimum backlashes. All these bad reviews claiming they are experienced anglers make me laugh. Youtube how to remove a backlash in 5 seconds if you don't know this method. I assure you that this baitcaster works great and backlashes aren't an issue. Even if you somehow manage to put in a backlash it's a 5 second fix...come on now...Even with improperly casting this reel it can completely eliminate backlashes. Not many reels can say that in this price range.
I've been very pleased with my??spincasting reels (2000 and 3000) and the?, i figured i'd stick with them for my first Baitcasting reel. Smooth casting with precise controls, nice sleek design - doesn't get much better. Takes some practice compared to Spincasting reels to get it right, and very fine adjustments on the spool dampener, but not too difficult. Had a friend that competes in Bass tournaments, and exclusively fishes with baitcasters test it out, and they said it was just as nice as the "Tournament" grade reels they use. You wont be disappointed.
The Spartacus is a great all around reel that can be used for many different styles of fishing with the 6.3:1 gear ratio and micro-cast dual centrifugal and magnetic brakes and a carbon fiber drag with 17.5 lbs of drag. For the price of a $200 reel you have the same feel and quality for an unbelievable price of $45.98!!
I love how lightweight the reel is and how it feels in my hand. The handle grips are very nice and the handle is very nice with some pretty cool carbon graphics on it as well. It has an upgraded 16.5lb braking system and is saltwater rated which I love cause I am a freshwater and saltwater fisherman.
Can't adjust to save my life. Original review was positive because the action felt very smooth. After using this real multiple times now I can't adjust it to save my life, rats nest every time I try to cast. I will only use real for vertical jig. After I posted Kast king contacted me, not only 1 time but many times tried to contact me to resolve my issue. Out of all their customers they made me a priority over a bad post. That tells me they stand behind their products AND value their customers.... I am a lifetime customer now! Please buy their product if you want quality and service. They helped me through what turns out to be a novice error in using their product. Thanks
Wanted to get into Bass Fishing after doing Carp/Cat fishing for awhile. Wanted something affordable and easy to use. This is my third reel. First one i got was the Royale Legend with a Abu Garcia Vengeance. Second one Got the Stealth Carbon with Fenwick HMX.I wanted a slower gear ratio reel so I got the Spartacus with a St. Croix. I Like all Three reels but out of the three, I Like the Stealth carbon- Spartacus- Royale Legend in order.I like the gear ratio of the Spartacus for the spinning and buzz bait. Also works well with slower topwater such as frogs and poppers. For the price, cant go wrong with them. All three reel deliver and more.
I'm basically a beginner bait caster.....I have had a bait caster years ago but never really was comfortable with it. When I was viewing 's legend reel most of the posts were positive except for a few. When I read the negative posts I was thinking the posters were morons. I get the ones that receive one that was defective but the others that can't figure out how to cast it. I know, its like the kettle calling the pot black...Upon the positive reviews, I purchased the Legend. Everything came as advertised. I viewed a video on how to set up the reel. So I set the tension knob correctly and maxed out the magnet setting. I put a few bell weights on the end of my line and practiced out in the back yard. All went well.....First time fishing I went to a tank/pond which I usually do when fishing. I back lashed more times than not. Pleased, I was not. I remembered a post about a person sending it back because he back lashed every cast. Now I have to eat crow because I now too had several bad casts.I went back to viewing videos on how to set up a bait caster I found another video, on the legend and proceeded to watch. I discovered that I did not set the mags correctly or rather not at all. So I turned all the magnets on and set the dial to max. The beginner setting more or less.My second trip was back to the tank/pond and the thing was casting flawless!! Into the wind, down wind, under hand, over hand, light lures, heavy lures. I was probably now casting 95% without back lash. When I did back lash it was because I did something stupid. The back lash was now a thing of the past. I was more confident with each cast.I would recommend this reel to a friend.I was using the left hand reel and I am right handed.I attached to a 6'6" med/Heavy action rodI am using 12lb. mono because I wanted to learn how to cast it before I bought braid.I reccomend watching videos on how to set it up.........
The whitemax is an awesome low-profile baitcaster with a sleek design. Drags nice and smooth and it has more line capacity than the other baitcasters. Got mine spooled up with 30lb superkast9 braid. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a lower gear ratio baitcaster
This reel is amazing!!! My second baitcast reel so I can only compare it to the Abu blackmax, from a newbie perspective. This reel is larger and slightly heavier than the blackmax. The royale legend has a detent drag wheel so you won't lose your settings by accident very cool feature. The reel tension wheel doesn't have a detent but I expect that from a more expensive reel. The casting with 40 lb braid is a dream!! Miles better than the abu, MILES.The royale legend is better in every single way than the blackmax except for the size. I like how the blackmax is easer to hold while fishing. But Kast king has a reel for that, i'm sure, and i'll have it! Kast king is the best around!! Buy one, then buy more!
I am new to bait casting reels and fishing with bait casting. Yet, I have been reviewing a great deal of YouTube viewing while I wait for ice out. I was impressed with the presentTion of this reel and decided to take a chance and purchase it. I have also bought a reel with a price tag of over 4X's.I spooled this reel with 50# braid so I could practice long casts as well as shorter pitching. Wow, this reel performs very nicely...it is extremely smooth. I am using it with two of the internal brakes engaged and think after I gain more experience I will be able to disengage them for even longer casts.Currently I am using light Texas Rigged Zoom worms which are light...a jig or chatter bait would fly with this reel. I have yet to match it with a good (or better) rod. Once I learn more about rods with micro guides I will. I suspect once matched up this will be a great comboI would have given the rating 5 stars if I had a chance to use it fishingBuy it!!!
I have a lot of reels - expensive, cheap, good, bad, conventional, spinning and baitcasters. I almost exclusively use bait-casters for inland fishing. I bought this reel because I wanted to try it out and see if it was a good fit for a 6'6 rod I have. I wanted something with a good retrieve rate that could be kind of a utility setup. Something that could do everything and was inexpensive so I didn't have to worry about it as it lives in the back of my truck for opportunistic fishing. My setup -The reel requires to be setup right. If you take it out the box and expect it just cast perfectly, you don't know baitcasters. Do your research.I have two of the internal brakes on and two off. I use the dial on the outside to adjust and govern the braking when I change lures. I find with the lures I use I have zero need to change the internal brakes now. If I am casting into the wind I use my thumb a bit but this is no different to any other bait caster out there.I spooled the reel with 12lb braid with a 6ft fluro leader. I don't fish heavy cover and with that light of line I can cast this thing for miles, even when using a short 6'6 rod - I can cast as far as one of my tatulas that's on a 7' rod with a similar weight lure. It casts smooth and I haven't experienced any odd issues with it. I have caught quite a few large mouth with this setup now and it functions flawlessly. Has the reel birdnested? Yes! Have my tatulas (weapon of choice)? Yes! Have my curados? Yes! They all do. Does it birds nest more than others? No.All in all it's a great reel for the money. The other thing that i will mention is that if you ever have any problems with the reel Eposedion will 100% take care of you. Their customer service is second to none.
Although I heard it is hard to use, I have always wanted to try the Baitcasting Reels. I bought this reel on Oct 28th following recommendation from a friend. The delivery of the product was quick. I set up the reel with the15lb FluoroKote Line and fit it to a 6ft ML rod.As a beginner, I didn't know what to expect the next day, Oct 31st, when I went to Indian Lake, Ohio for fishing. Following the manual, I set the Tension and Magnetic Braking. The initial practice was done on the lawn next to the parking lot with a 1/2oz egg sinker. After a few light backlash, I was able to make some smooth casts with fair accuracy and distance. It was the time to put it into real action. The lure was a 1/2 unpainted jig tipped with either a grub or a big joshy. The target fish was Saugeye. The drag was set to a medium to low level. Once fishing started, most of my attention was paid to make successful casts. The bite was fairly good that evening. After one and half hour, I landed 3 Saugeyes. One of them was a 20inch. It made a pretty good run after hook was set, the drag was smooth and effective. I have attached some pictures taken that evening. You can imagine how happy I was. I have no experience to judge if this reel is better than any other bait casting reels on the market. But it is amazing to me how well and quickly it got me started on a whole new fishing experience. I would recommend this to my friends.
I absolutely LOVE this reel! It's my first ever bait caster, so I don't really have much to compare it to but I know quality when I see it. More importantly, I know quality when I USE it. I've used this reel several times and I couldn't possibly be happier with it. Yes, I am definitely still a novice when it comes to casting a baitcaster, but I'm getting there. I've had a few wicked backlashes and some pretty nasty birds nests. But I was well aware of the fact that there would be a little learning curve with a reel like this. I honestly think I would have a LOT more birds nests if I had started out using a different brand or even a different model. I believe this is probably one of the easier BC style reels for a beginner to learn on.It's not very difficult to cast this thing a country mile if you know what you're doing. While I don't consider myself to be an expert with bait casters, I have had my share (maybe accidentally? LOL) of truly GREAT casts with this reel. I don't know if it's because I'm getting better or simply because this reel is just that great. Either way, I'll take it!For what it's worth, I paired my reel up with an Entsport Camo Legend 2 piece, 7' casting rod and I couldn't possibly be happier with the combo. I've always been a firm believer that the perfect fishing reel needs to be paired with the perfect rod. Just kind of makes sense, at least to me. I also am a firm believer that, like , Entsport is a very under rated, budget friendly brand that should not be overlooked for some of the higher end, much pricier names. Much the same way I am a Mossberg 500 guy when it comes to shotguns. Lower price doesn't always equate to "cheaper" and you don't always get what you pay for. There are times when that is true. But there are also times where you're really only paying for the name that's on the label. If you're in the market for a new bait caster reel, you should definitely give this one a shot. And maybe even take my advice and partner it up with the rod I was talking about. I truly believe you'll be happy with that decision.
This reel is great quality and is made very well for the price. The reel competes with and even surpasses reels double to triple the price. has done a great job designing a reel that performs this well and being able to sell it at a price this low. The reel was easy to adjust and within minutes i had no backlash even with wind. Reel works great throwing spinners and crankbaits, and everything else. The reel is super smooth and has a strong, smooth drag system. I paired this reel with Kasting's Maxthin8 22lb 8 strand braid and it worked like a charm. This reel has performed better than i could have expected and i would recommend this reel to anyone looking for a baitcasting reel that will hold up fish after fish.

Very impressed with the value and quality of this reel. The combination of magnetic brake and centrifugal brake make learning to cast super easy. I have always been a spinning rod fisherman since I was a kid, I tried before to learn to use a bait caster with little success. This reel has been a joy to use and easy to learn with both brakes. Slowly I have been backing off the brakes and casting further and further. The retrieve is super smooth and I have had no issues with the drag performance. I can't wait for the weather to break so I can really spend some more time with this reel.Update:Been rocking both the white Lomax and the Black High Speed version all spring with awesome success. Landed this 5lb bass the other morning and the reel performed flawlessly. I am casting a mile with these reels and the two anti-backlash features are working perfectly together. I still can't say enough about these reels and rods. For the money it is a great entry level reel into baitcasting, and I feel confident that these reels will perform well above there cost.
After seeing the overwhelming reviews I pulled the trigger. I had a coworker I'm good friends with who was having a bit of a rough time, so I picked up a second one for him to help perk him up. I bought them based entirely off video reviews, as well as whatever written material I could find. I own a few other baitcasters that are up and down in various price brackets. I've only had a few sessions with this reel in action given at the time of review (3/17) most of the waters near me still have quite a bit of ice on them. However we have been out a few times in areas that have melted and I must say, this reel is every bit the value you've read about. Walk into Walmart with 35 bucks and you'll likely walk out with an entry name brand, decent baitcaster for the price. Spend the same amount on this and you'll get the extra notches above that normally you'd have to look way up the shelf for. High bearing count, dual braking, Quick speed, and an option with the Whitemax for a slower ratio. A good balance of substance and feature, I'm glad I put my faith in to finish my arsenal for the time being, but even moreso that I gave someone a great gift. Running 40lb Spiderwire stealth on a Berkley Cherrywood
So I was very excited to get this reel after I got the Stealth which was amazing (If you don't have it you probably should). So I brought out of the box and inside was the same thing. The parts Manuel and this i got a User Guide, because in the Stealth box i didn't get one so i was a little confused. But after that I tweaked with the reel, I turned some brakes on, added some SuperKast 9 which is some really good stuff, and add the reel on my rod. I took this setup outside to a nearby pond and decided to add a blue and green lipless crank bait. On my first cast immediately the fish took my crank bait and started running like crazy. After that I walked back to my bag and added on a new crank bait. I noticed that this bait caster casted very smoothly, smoother than the Stealth I think. I walked around and finally caught another fish, but funny thing is it flopped back into the water when I trying to get my camera working.... :( I then walk a little bit more and this I landed the fish, it wasn't too bad. After this fish the sun was setting and it was getting dark so I decided to walk back to get my bag. But if you know me, I casted a few more times before I left and at the last moment a bass destroyed my crank bait. But sadly it also flopped back into the water :( but i was laughing and couldn't control myself. So i called it a day and went back home. Overall this bait caster I think is a must have since how good it is and such an inexpensive price. Also buy the SuperKast 9, the line is a beast!
This is my second baitcaster reel I purchased, and I will admit I broke my first one (another brand) in frustration of not knowing how to use one. I decided to give it a go using this, and yes, I still had birds nests occasionally, but after reading how to properly do the set up and a good deal of practice, I am becoming quite proficient. I will state that this reel seems well made, and works effortlessly. It has a very fast retrieve. I haven't had any issues with it, and it is easy to clean and maintain. Due to how easy this one was, I did just buy another one from this company, though I switched to a left hand as I wasn't fond of casting with the right and then doing the hand switch. I also went with a slower retrieve ratio based on my preferences.
First I have to say, this is my first ever bait caster. I've used spinning reals since I was 5years old (I'm 37 now). I watched a few how to videos on how to use, adjust, put line on, etc...so I went out today (4/15/18) and tried it out. It took me a little bit but got used to it and I love it. It retrieves a little quick for me, but I adjusted to it and slowed my retrieve down. The reel is awesome with catching fish because the second you get a hit, it locks in place and you can give a nice hook set. The reel itself fits perfect in my hand and when reeling in..... its like butter. I've never used a reel so smooth. For the price, I'm buying another ! This is a great buy and you'll be happy if you purchase it. Happy fishing !
Been a while since I have used a baitcaster. I have an Abu garcia that I bring out once in a while but after a recent fishing trip into the salt water, lets just say it is on its last cast (bad ownership, I know) So I've decided to pick up a new one for the next bass season.Researching around, I came across the Royale Legend popping up a couple of times and decided to try it out.Paired it with the Stren Flurocast Fluorocarbon 12lb test this thing is by far the best quality feeling baitcaster for the price! The retrieve is smooth and the dual brake system (centrifugal and magnetic) is a plus! For those that are getting into baitcasting but don't wanna drop a big amount of money for something you're not so sure of, look no further! This reel will offer you most of the features needed on those higher end reels but will not break the wallet.
The Legend Royale is an excellent starter baitcasting reel for anglers of all levels. It's 11+1 ball bearings make it incredibly smooth and, for the money, I doubt you'll be able to find a better reel than this. I have the Abu Garcia Black Max and this reel outperforms it in every way. It's a very sturdy yet lightweight machine, and I'm able to cast all day without feeling fatigued. I paired it with the Royale Legend rod 7' medium action and 10-pound braided line. I've just made it my new primary bass and speckled trout reel. Believe me when I say that you won't be disappointed when purchasing this reel. Also- don't forget to check out some of the reviews on YouTube so you get a full understanding of what this reel is capable of. Tight lines-happy fishing!
This company is so legit I have to leave a review. I was looking for a new baitcaster to throw on an old rod that I had but didnt want to pay $99-149 for the basic ones at cabelas. I didn't want a super cheap one either, so I was skeptical to try this one out thinking it was made with cheap parts. Sure there is some plastic on it, but the main components seem super high quality! This feels like the $100+ reels in the store without the price tag! My father-in-law came up from Florida to do some kayak fishing with me and fell in love with this reel. He just told me that he bought one too and caught a bass the same day out in his pond with it. So I figured id right a little review, if its good enough for him, and for me, I'm sure anyone who tries it will love it. Super high value and high quality. I am going to save up and pick up some of their other reels but for now, this thing slams fish.
I waited a few months before reviewing the Royale Legend. It took me a while to adjust to this reel. I spent hours casting in the yard trying to set this thing. I first started with 12lb mono, but couldn't get the hang of it. Terrible birdsnests every time. Brakes were adjusted all the way up too. I refused to give up on it, seeing how beginners are enjoying this reel; I should be able to also. I adjusted my form, and it helped a little. Then, I decided to re-spool it with 30lb braid. This made all the difference. I can now fling it farther than any Abu Garcia reel I own. It casts amazingly. I have been slaying my local ponds every time. Just yesterday, this reel landed a total of 15 bass into my kayak. I have had brand loyalties to Abu Garcia for years, but I really love this reel. The foam grips feel great in the hand. It's really pretty too. I have just this minute ordered a Speed Demon reel, and can't wait to fish it.
I like the looks and reel is light weight and casts well. I have not fished it long enough to know how well it will hold up but so far so good. I would buy it again if it does last a reasonable amount of time without any issues. Only time will tell. That said I normally shy away from high speed retrieve reels. They are fine for burning in a bait but the high gear ratio makes it harder to crank in a big fish. My preferred gear ratio is in the neighborhood of around 6.2:1. My thoughts are if you want a fasted retrieve just wind it faster. With a lower gear ratio you have more power when you do hook a big fish.
I hadn't used a bait caster for years. With the price on this reel a and its reviews I decided why not give it a try.I spooled it with 15 pound PLine, a 7'-2 medium heavy rod. I spent about 5 minutes setting up the spool tension and anti-backlash and made some trial casts. This reel is a rock star. I was concerned about back lashing my first cast. So far I have managed to get one minor backlash. I feel like a pro. I've done some flipping and skip casts. This reel was simple to set up and. I can' be more pleased with it. It appears to be well made. Now the real test is to see how durable it is. All I have to do now is hook up with a "donky" of a bass so I can see how the drag performs.
Well for 39.99 i figured I would try Kast King one more time after I have already bought the Speed Demon and to be honest not really impressed with it. But I purchased the Royale to put on a 7' medium rod to cast lighter weight lures. After fishing with it for 2 full days of fishing I was much more impressed with this reel than the Speed Demon.Look: First impression was the reel looks like any other expensive reel on the market and even my dad was impressed with the look.Cast ability: It took me awhile to calibrate it the perfect setting, but with dual braking it didn't take me long before I was casting a light jerk bait further than I have cast it before without backlash.Durability: I can't speak too much on this due to only using it on 2 trips, but I caught multiple small mouth and largemouth bass and had 0 problems with drag slipping. Hopefully this reel last a long time.Negative: Only negative I can think of as of right now is the reel appeared to have 0 oil on anything. So I oiled the spoil and bearings before use which I would recommend for everyone to check.Positives: Cheap, cost effective reel that I would recommend for anyone looking to get into bass fishing and not looking to spend a whole lot of money. Or, anyone looking to buy some cheap setups for friends so they don't ruin your expensive setups.
EDIT: I'm redoing this review because a mistake happened in the system where a support ticket I sent in was lost and never answered. got back with me and cleared this up with me. I can't give a bad review on their support over a system glitch!I bought this reel for my husband it was his first low profile baitcaster reel. He has always been an Abu Garcia fan so he has always fished with the older 1990 and 2000 model Abu Garcia reels. As soon as he got this reel in his hand he couldn't believe how much further it cast and how much smoother it was compared to his Abu Garcia reels.Since he got this reel he loved it so much that he sold all his Abu Reels and he is now fishing only low profile baitcast reels.I would give this reel a 5 star rating but he mentioned something about the paw cap on the reel being plastic and a really bad design and he feels if he ever has to take it off and replace the paw that it would be very easy to strip the plastic cap out. Other than this he has no other complains so I can't give the reel 5 stars because of this. Whether or not it will ever strip out I'm not sure only time till tell.He used this reel for 4 solid weeks fishing 1-2 times a day in saltwater catching hundreds and hundreds of speckled trout without any issues at all. The only issue he found was the paw cap was not tightened all the way from the factory and the paw was getting stuck some on one side of the reel after he tightened the paw cap he never had another problem. He highly recommends this reel to anyone beginner or advanced in fishing to try it out. Will give more updates later when the reel has more wear and tear. So far I think the wear and tear he put on this reel is as much as others would take 4-6 months to do. He fishes every single day! 4 weeks of this type of fishing is the same as a weekend fisherman would put in 4-6 months of use. So the reel is holding up quite nicely!
I have fished for over 40 years all over the world. It used to be that to get a good quality low profile baitcaster you had to mortgage the house. Not any more. I bought two of these reels for a trip to the . When I got them out of the box I was like, Wow. They are very well built and smooth as glass. I used them for a month and ended up giving them to my guides because I could tell they were drooling over them. They are still using them and catching on them today with no problem. Next time I head out for a hard fish and need good reels that won't let me down, I know exactly what I will be ordering. These reels right here.

I used to work at the biggest fishing store. Know all the major brands and how much they really are worth and how good they really are. has come to the market making an affordable product that has created a new genre in fishing. The cost and origin makes most people sneer at it. Well as usual the snobs are stupid. Talking without research or knowledge. I've spent the high money. It just doesn't make sense anymore. is moving forward with innovation and quality. The Royal legend is a great baitcaster in both function and performance. Please, please fight the stupids and treat yourself to this reel. A winning combo: and
I received this product for free in order to try it and give my opinions - but all opinions expressed are 100% my own. This reel works great - it's very comfortable and easy to use. I did have some difficulty tuning it, but once I did it worked like a charm. I like how the reel comes apart, allowing you to take the spool of line out. The 11 ball bearings make cranking exceptionally smooth. I put this reel to the test for several hours of fishing and was completely satisfied. You can learn more in my video review.
I bought this reel to use on a Daiwa 6'6"" 2 piece light weight portable rod Medium action withna fast tip and it had been great. The braking system is a little tricky but if you go on YouTube there's a few videos teaching you how to set it up to avoid backslashing. I'm using this as a good all around portable rod for creek and river bank fishing where I have to hike in where having a one piece pole is too cumbersome. It's great at casting frogs and other top water lures but not too fast you can't just slow yourself down to use as on finess type rigs as well. It is a great all around use reel and a great bang for the buck purchase. I have an Abu Garcia BlackMax3 and this reel for about the same amount of money is far smoother and better looking. With the money I saved on this reel I'm using to buy a nice carbon fiber handle for it to dress it up a little more and cut a tiny bit of wright off too because like I said I wanted a nice light weight package and this does it all day long.
I purchased the Royale Legend reel to use in the gulf to throw lures such as mirror lures. On my third or later trips i used this reel to bring in a 24in. sea trout. The reel worked great in getting the fish to the boat. This reel is also very easy to use with limited back lashes once you adjust it correctly for what you are throwing. I wash it off real good when i am done fishing and have had no issues whatsoever with this reel. I like the lightness of the reel, especially when you are throwing lures all day. This reel is a good reel for both beginner users and experienced users. I highly recommend this reel to anyone who likes to use baitcasters.
I have this reel set up on a 6'6" custom built medium/fast rod for fishing plastics when bass fishing.I can cast a bare senko farther with this than I can a 7' Spinning reel. Because of my reels I have very little need for my spinning reels. For those talking about how to set them to cast without birds nests... I tried setting them like I do my Abu Garcia or Pflueger reels. I have found because of the increased spool size it changes the amount of pull that the line has when casting. I set the casting drag so it just stops the lure from falling and I can cast 30+ yards FARTHER than my Abu Garcia on a 7' pole. If your casting form is less than perfect, you will have issues. If you have issues casting this reel, slow down and work on your form. Also, be sure to have the proper lure weight to the pole design.I've been an Abu Garcia fan, but I can't justify the higher price when these reels are in many ways BETTER and cost significantly less.
I'm brand new to fishing, and I am a victim of marketing. I see all the pro bass anglers swearing by, and exclusively using baitcasters, so I have to also. Even though on youtube it looked so intimidating, with all the dials and knobs and gizmos that I'd have to learn how to use. When this came in, I was shocked at the high quality, I could tell just from holding it, that this was the real freaking deal! Looks amazing, and after a short youtube briefing on how to get it set up properly to minimize birds nests, I really started getting the hang of it, and fell in love with this reel. It is crazy how far you can cast out with this reel. And it feels so "heavy duty" quality wise, I'm confident there is absolutely nothing in a lake that I couldn't beast with this reel. makes amazing products!
I have used this Royale Legend/Whitemax on one occasion so far. I loaded it with 50lb braid. It is a smooth reel - especially for the price. I am relatively new to baitcasting. I was amazed that I have yet to have a backlash of any kind with this reel (not true of my Daiwa or Lews baitcasters although they are fine reels too). So far, I am pretty impressed with this reel.UPDATE: I have now used this reel on saltwater too. I almost NEVER backlash this reel - even on sloppy casts where I would expect it. This reel continues to amaze me. It is my favorite light baitcaster even over more expensive name brands that cost much more. I am ordering another because it works great! I am going to put the money I save in a higher end rod instead.
I bought this reel to compare to my brother Abu Garcia low profile bait casting reel and this might i say performs a lot better. It takes some time to get use to and adjust but once you got a feel for it - the casts just flow!I have found that i am able to cast a lot farther with lighter lures using this reel, I do though, of course, have a birds nest a two. For the most part these are easy to fix if you are familiar with bait casting reels - I did have a case where the line knotted up on me within the reel, not sure how that happened but hey it only took a bit out of my fishing time. Great reel though!
This reel is awesome. I've purchased a fer bait casters from the local big box stores, and of all of those purchased I'm enjoying this reel the most.Cost per reel is reasonable. The look of the reel, nice smooth black with shiny red accents is nice.. the only thing I could ask is that they make this in black/green also. The reels operation is extremely fluid, not just smooth but fluid.Dialing in the proper resistance for different baits and lures is very simple and quick.Casting on this reel is a breeze. Once you dial the reel in (just a few seconds) you are able to smoothly cast without backlash. That is the exact reason i purchased this reel in the first place.. the big box store bait-casters have the same adjustment mechanisms but this reel is much smoother, can be purchased in left or right hand retrieve, can be more finely adjusted and is a much better value overall.I like this reel so much that I plan to purchase another or two
First thing first let me just say this real is great! The first low profile baitcaster I bought was purchased about 15 years ago, and I could never get it to work. It would birds nest on every cast unless I turned the brakes to their highest setting and then it would only cast about 10 feet. It sat in a closet for a decade while I always believed I must have been doing something wrong. I'm a seasoned fisherman, I have good hand-eye coordination, and when I see something done a number of times I can replicate it pretty quickly. Regardless of how many YouTube how-to videos I watched I could never figure it out.I finally decided to take the plunge and buy another one as I figured in 15 years maybe technology has improved and there would be less of a learning curve. I labored over the decision to buy such an inexpensive reel, considering most reels for twice the price don't taut some of the features of this reel. It also concerned me that you could seemingly only buy this brand's products on . I did a lot of research and honestly couldn't find many negative reviews of their products so eventually I decided to give it a try.It shipped with Prime and arrived in 2 business days. The box was simple yet sleek. The reel itself feels and looks great right out of the box. I put a backing of electrical tape on the spool and then filled the spool with 30 lb Power Pro braid. I attached about 6 feet of 10 lb fluorocarbon leader to the braid, and have been tying my hook / lures directly to the leader. I took it out the day I got it with just a weight tied to the end of the line and got all of the brakes and drag set casting in the park across the street. I only had one minor backlash early on while I was still getting dialed in.After that I finally got a chance to take it out with actual lures and fish with it today, and let me tell you it blows my expectations away. The reel is silky smooth and silent, and the brake system ( it has both centrifical and magnetic braking) makes getting smooth long casts easy without getting birds nests. I fished for several hours and never had a single problem. This thing is the real deal!I think my next rod and reel will both be from . After that we'll know if I'm a true convert or not. For now at least it's looking pretty good!
I was skeptical about this reel, but with the good reviews I had to give it a shot. $40.00 for a Baitcaster is hard to believe, and I expected this to be cheaply made. I have four baitcasters (Abu, Browning, BassPro, ) and to be honest - this is the best one I've purchase. This comes with a disclaimer though - I have NO idea on the durability. I'll try to remember to update this review throughout the year. Right now - I'd say this is the best reel I've ever purchased.Casting Distance - 5 StarsPrice - 5 Stars (ridiculous bargain)Settings - 5 Stars (took a little bit to get it dialed in, but after had no backlash with 30lb Braid)Durability - unknown
This was my first bait casting reel, so it had to be super easy to learn and prevent the dreaded birds nest. I had purchased a different brand but returned it because I could not get the brake to work. This reel had a much better braking system and I was soon casting like my old spin cast reel. It did take a little time to understand the magnetic clutch and how to adjust it correctly after I started learning how much pressure to use with my thumb. This was so easy, I purchased the Royal Legend as well. Very pleased with my purchase and I would recommend this reel to any beginner.
People look, all these 1 & 2 star reviews crack me up. "Worst birds nests I've ever had. And trust me, I am an advanced fisherman" or "very cheaply built" as well as "reel made terrible screaming noises when casting". Do not listen to these reviews. I will admit, the reel did make some screaming noises for me out of the box BUT that was due to a semi poor oil/greasing from the manufacturer. This is not a $150+ Abu reel that was literally submerged in grease and oil so do yourself a favor and do it yourself. It's worth it. After doing that I have had absolutely no issues with this reel. I used a revo SX as a starter and couldn't get used to it. I use this and can actually enjoy fishing with a baitcaster now. Let's face it, for $40 what better can you get?? EVA foam grips AND cool color scheme??? The 1 and only issue I have with this reel is purely aesthetic. The "chrome" around the front looks cheap in person. Other than that, this reel is a boss. I was able to reel in a tire without this thing giving me an issue. I can't wait to finally catch a largie from at least 30-50 yards out and hog him in!!!!! Happy fishing guys
As a lady angler for using a BC reel, what I would like to have is a reel with good looking, light weight, smooth casting, powerful drag, and not so-easily being birdnested. I am so glad I purchased the Royale Legend BC reel, which I felt it meets my needs. This reel is a very nice look and design. It feels very comfortable in my hand. Today it was the first time for me to go out and try this reel. I used a 20lb braid line with a crankbait and it is very smooth to cast and retrieve. I was attempting to catch largemouth bass but I caught a large silver carp instead. The drag of this reel is very powerful and it was pretty easy for me to land this fish. I highly recommend this one for lady angler!
The 2016 Spartacus bait casting reel is awesome!! I have several top name brand very expensive reels that doesn't even compare to the Spartacus. this reel is unbelievably smooth. lets just say that i have now replaced all my other reels with reels. the reel comes with a very nice cover to keep your reel protected when not in useFeatures of the Spartacus:* 6.3:1 gear ratio*very nice aluminum handle with sure grip EVA foam knobs*innovative dual break system for precision casting control* Light weight low profile sleek design*superior carbon fiber drag system with 12lbs stopping drag power and smooth line out* high quality 11 +1 stainless bearings providing noise-free performance* it is available in right and left handed*Spartacus baitcaster reels are saltwater approved and have a one-year warranty.once you try you will be hooked!!
The feel of this reel is like more expensive bait casting reels but much more affordable. My 13 year old son wanted a bait casting reel so he saved his money and we researched different models. When buying your first bait casting reel you do not want to waste your money because bait casting reels can be expensive. I own several Ambassadors and a Diawa which all now retail between $150 and $250. Bait casters are great for fishing heavier jigs, spinner baits, crank baits, top water plugs and plastic worms with weights. If you like to fish light weight lures, a spinning reel works better. We decided on this Royale Legend model. It has been a great reel with the types of baits we use. The anti back lash brake features have made this venture into the bait caster reel world enjoyable for my son. You will always have some back lash when learning this type of reel but this reel makes learning much quicker and easier. We have made several fishing trips with this reel and my son has let me catch several fish with it and we both like. It has proven to be a very good reel. With the good experience with this bait caster, I will be purchasing a spinning reel to replace one of my worn out spinning reels soon.
Smooth casting, VERY FORGIVING!!, Little to no adjustments when switching from weighted 2oz swimbaits to weightless senkos! I will DEFINITELY be buying more Reels! Youtube has a plethora of videos trying to get these reels to blacklash, as well as 's own PR videos. Did I mention it can launch anything a mile? I mean it, ANYTHING! I throw small 3-6 inch finesse plastics up to Savage Gear glidebaits and it just doesnt care, it will launch!
I have a lot of mid/higher end reels (DC and K, etc) but they are all high speed (8:1+). I needed something slow for winter fishing which this reel seems to be one of the few 5:1 with low-profile left of its breed. When I got it, my first impression is that it is nicely built and looks awesome. However, spooling it needs some attention. I ended up with a lot of line on one side. Granted that this can happen to any reel, I had to respool it three times to get it ok. I haven't used lower costing reel in a while so I have not experienced this since switching over to 200+ dollar reel ranges.Second issue is casting. If I setup the dials as usual (loose spool, 1/3 magnetic tension) I cannot cast 1/4" jig heads. It'll bird nest. I remedied this by turning the magnetic tension to 8/9 which is almost max (10). Now when casting, I can tell the reel is over worked as the spool slows down dramatically. However, switching to 7 and below creates birdsnest. My conclusion is that I have to throw heavier weight lures to make it work right. Which kind of sucks because it beats the purpose of me getting this reel for winter fishing where I'll be throwing a lot of light lures to creep at the bottom. However, if I were to use it for heavy weights, Im sure it'll be no problem as I do do a lot of Salmon/Striper fishing. The second and last is the gear ratio. Now I can really creep my lures with the 5:1 ratio without going to sleep when using my high gear ratios for the same job.
I bought the Royale Legend after reading many reviews good and not so good. After mounting it on a Shimano Baitcasting rod and loading it up with 25lb PowerPro slick 8 line, I took it striped bass fishing on the Chesapeake Bay.It casts like a $100+ reel. Super smooth and long casts were effortless. Some noticed reel noise when casting but I found mine to be pretty quiet. With its 7.0:1 gear ratio, it handled crankbaits, topwater plugs, and jigging equally well. When I hooked up with 25+ inch fish, the drag was smooth and easy to adjust while fighting the fish.My fishing partner also gave it a try and was also truly impressed with this $40 reel. You hit this one out of the park !
Update: 6/28/18. Customer service got ahold of me and let me know that the cover was a promotional item, which is why I didn't get it. They said they sent me one anyways though which is wicked awesome.Used the reel and it performs flawlessly!! Didn't receive the black cover with the reel. Looks like it came in decent shape. Really sharp looking reel and based on the other reviews it performs amazingly. Pumped to use it and will update review once I do.2 star review based on not getting cover as advertised.
This was my first baitcaster reel. Having to learn how to use a baitcaster can be daunting. But thankfully this reel provides the smoothest action and the sturdy, quality built frame that helped make it so easy. If it's your first time using a baitcaster you should absolutely go with this reel. Please remember that you can't cast like your using a spinner reel. Smooth casts that release the line in a constant speed is key to avoiding the dreaded "birds nest" that can make you wanna throw it in the water and never fish again. Watch a YouTube video or two on how to set up the reel and your golden. I used the flourocarbon brand line with it and it handled like butter. You will not be disappointed in this. Now... Let's fish!!!
This is my second casting reel, I purchased my first 30 years ago and after a day of backlash swore I would never buy another. This real got so many great reviews I had to get one. Possibly impossible to tangle line, I love this real fits perfect in my hand the white with red drag looks great. I am so pleased with the purchase. For a full review check out Spartan kid outdoors on Youtube and buy one of these. Happy Fishing
Originally heard about it from extremephillyfishing. I needed a new bait caster, and this one holds up. It was a little dry when I got it though, so I oiled the bearings a little. Feels great casts pretty nice. Fights the fish well, and it has a great profile. Got it on a 7,2 uglystick and the colors match perfectly. Not too big on that but it's cool. Just a great reel. Will definitely buy again
Bought this reel last July. Didn't use it until October. I used it to reel in a massive 30lb red drum in Sebastian Inlet, FL which is one of Fishbrain's Top 10 places to fish in the US. I reeled it in off of the walkway overlooking the inlet. Red tide was out in full force so I had a massive current pulling with the fish. It was a 30 minute fight and I, unfortunately only used 20lb line so it snapped once I tried to get the fish up out of the water from the surface. The reel worked fine until I used it again a month ago. I'm a rookie, btw, so I completely forgot how to use a baitcaster. I kept getting birdsnests. Thinking that there was an issue with the reel, I immediately called customer service and the rep was very polite and promptly gave me a new reel in exchange for the old one. I ended up realizing with the new reel that there wasn't a problem with the old one... user error! I was the problem! They also are giving me complementary fishing line. I have more of my favorite line and my favorite reel ready for action. It'd be great if they could make a rod that I could call a favorite as well. Being a business graduate, I know that more competition means better products. knows how to treat customers well!
I bought this for my 8 yr old daughters to use. Learning curve was about 5 casts. Loading the reel was easy with the help of a youtube video, and tension adjustments are easy. Loaded with 6 lb mono, casting and retrieval is nice. Retrieval ratio was nice and helped the kids quite a bit. For the price, this reel is a very considerable upgrade from what's available at Wally's World. I purchased during a lightning round deal, and would likely purchase another one if I see it on sale again. Would it hesitate for anyone looking for an above entry-level bait caster.
This is my first casting reel and I'm really satisfied with the purchase. Gears and bearings seem to be super smooth and overall fit and finish is excellent. I've only been able to take it out in the backyard to test it out, but I've been able to cast it pretty well without birds nesting it. Can't wait to get it out on the water. I was going to ding it one star for the composite body, but at this price point I really can't. Seems to be a great reel.
This is a good cheap reel if you're like me and trying baitcasting for the first time. It performs better than any $40 reel I'm sure, but after using it about a month I'm ready to upgrade. This isn't A reel that's worth 2-3 times what you pay, keep that in mind. The handle has a lot of play, it's big and plastic and cheap feeling, it's rough reeling sometimes (cheap lube I'm sure), and backlashes or casts 20 feet.If you're picky and NEED higher performing equipment to feel like you have a chance, you actually have to pay for it.
Just switched my two Abu Garcia black Max's to a whitemax and a stealth, this is my 4th kast king I also own their Sharkey 3 baitfeeder and a summer 3000 , really does make some of the best reels and the white max looks amazing cast a mile and is a smooth as can be , it puts my blackmax to shame and I though those reels were amazing will be the only reels I buy in the future you can't go wrong with them .
I decided to give this reel a try after returning the Piscifun Torrent. My expectations for a $40 baitcasting reel are not super high, but the Torrent developed a grinding noise after only 3 uses. I thought I might have the same experience with the Royale Legend, but I have been pleasantly surprised. This reel continues to perform flawlessly, even when the operator (me) does not. I have used this reel paired with a Lew's Carbon Fire medium heavy 7 ' rod mostly for saltwater harbor fishing, and some freshwater fishing. I rinse it well after each use, and it continues to work flawlessly. Although the Piscifun gets a ton of good reviews too, in my experience, the is the way to go.
I have used brand name baitcasting reels costing as much as $190. This reel is comparable to those, with butter smooth casts and quiet, smooth gears.Because it has 11 bearings, the spool is extremely free spinning. This will require you to adjust the brakes just so in order to avoid backlashing when casting into the wind. But once you get the hang of it, you will absolutely love this reel. It's comfortable and performs very well. I have landed bass up to 4 lbs. on it so far and it has showed no signs of any problems at all.Durability and longevity won't be known for a few more months, after I have been using it for a while. BUt after using it for the last several weeks it has shown no signs at all of being poor quality. Quite the opposite in fact. It seems to be very high quality, especially for the price tag.If you're not sure about this reel because you haven't heard of it, I encourage you to give it a try. It's not expensive and you will be happy you spent the money!
A solid reel! I bought this reel from . As someone who owns several dozens of reels, all of which are Shimano, I am little curious about the Chinese reel made by that a lot of people are talking about. I checked on Youtube and saw some great reviews and decided to get one. What a surprise! Not only is it a solid reel, but also it is smooth and well made. I like the fact that this reel has dual brakes that work as they should. Besides, it is made of eleven ball bearings. How many times, we come across a reel with eleven ball-bearing plus all the bells and whistle and costs less than forty dollars? For a baitcasting reel, that is unthinkable. Well done, !

Wonderful!!! I gave this to my husband for fathers day 2018, and he has not stopped talking about it. Went out yesterday and racked up 32 brims with it. The manual/brochure was spot on. It made everything about the reel seem like he had an expensive, too of the line reel. He keeps talking about how smooth it is to cast and how far it gets. Wherever the perfect spot is, this reel is the one for that spot.. Let me also add, that this is one of the most beautiful reels I have ever seen, great price and certainly worth every penny. I will be getting him only Kast King products from now on...

This reel is very good value: High quality for a decent price. It is ergonomic and feels lightweight, yet is strong enough to reel in the big ones! It is aesthetically pleasing as well. There are many lower end reels on the market, but you won't find the quality that this Royale Legend Whitemax offers. We were so happy with this reel, we bought a 2nd one to add to our fishing gear! We would have no problem recommending this reel to family or friends.
I've been fishing for 5 decades - From Alaska to Florida to Canada. I've owned quality reels from every major manufacturer - including the "store brands" from Cabelas and Bass Pro shops. This reel ( Royale Legend/Whitemax Low Profile Baitcasting Fishing Reel) is an AMAZING reel. It is hands down comparable to "name brand" reels selling at 4 or 5 times the price. I will be buying more of them. I HIGHLY recommend it.
This is my first baitcaster, but I have had other products and they are some of the best on the market for the price. So far it has worked great! all the right features, seems durable, lightweight enough, and casts smooth.Favorite thing about it is the ease of set up for a beginner. Having the two types of breaking systems help set up for a beginner, I think.Great product for the price!Good job .
BC reels never disappointed me. This royal legend BC reel is a rugged build, smooth operation, and excellent power and gear efficiency one. This is something that should be one of those you ought to bear in mind for beginners. It's the toughest and most powerful reel in its class, so if you're looking for price/quality ratio, check this one out. Its price point may prove to be the best for some anglers who are just getting into baitcasting. With its versatility, ergonomic design, and all-around resilience and efficiency, the Royal legend is a winner in terms of anything from durability to performance. And the most important thing is, it's more affordable than others.
got it today for my crank rod. the white max 5:1. took it out for a couple hours. casts beautiful. feels amazing. for only $40, i was REALLY surprised by the quality. i have had several $40-$50 baitcasters and this one is by far the best quality. i was kind of nervous about because i have never really heard of them, but they are nice. im going to have to pick up a few others!
Wow, this reel has made fishing fun again, even if I don't catch a flippin' fish! I have been fighting an old Shimano Calcutta baitcaster, and no matter how I tried to adjust it, was getting backlash after backlash. I finally decided to modernize, and this Royale Legend is a perfect choice! It is built solid, and casts perfectly, long, and accurate! The spool tension and magnetic brake adjustments make this easy to setup for any weight line or lure. I spooled it up and just tossed 50+ casts in my neighborhood pond without a single birds nest! I can't wait to use it from my kayak in a lake or bay that actually has fish in it! I ordered last night at 8pm and it was here by noon today.... This was faster service, better price, and a better product than if I had driven to Basspro or Dick's. I definitely plan to order more reels in the near future! Great product right out of the box.
The first part of August I saw an ad for a Stealth reel on . In the product description the reel had everything the " High End" reels offered.I read all of the customer responses and all were very positive in their opinions of the Stealth. I then read all of the Q&A section and found the same positive responses. The price of the Stealth was very reasonable, so reasonable I was very skeptical about it. I couldn't help feeling I wanted to see for myself so I ordered the Stealth reel. The day the reel came I put it on a rod, added line and went to the lake. From the first cast I was pleased with the performance of the Stealth. My Grandson was with me and I let him try it. He liked the reel very much, so much that somehow it seems to have become part of his arsenal.Just in the month of August I have placed four orders with . The original order of the Stealth Reel, my Grandson found the WhiteMax on the Internet and really wanted it so that was order number two. I ordered the Royale Legend for myself to replace the liberated Stealth. Now I needed another rod so I ordered a Casting medium power/fast action 6'7" rod. I haven't had a chance to use the rod yet. obviously produces top quality products and their pricing very reasonable. The average guy like me can afford more quality toys because of the prices.
Went fishing with this reel, and it exceeded my expectations. Was greatly surprised at the cast ability and magnetic brake control. My only draw back was it asked to remove the spool prior to filling with line. Directions were a little spotty, and I never got the side panel to completely clear the spool. I just did it old school way and threaded line onto spool with a small pick and tied it to the spool. Will buy more in the future, now just finding more fishing time is the problem.
Used this reel yesterday catching some nice Florida bass and I'm ready to buy another.... This is my third product (spinning reel/rod and sunglasses), figured it was a safe bet.I've been out of the fishing game for a while and needed something decent. Picked this up at a good price to see how my bait casting skills were and man, it was easy with this joker. No kidding....Just jump on Youtube and learn the settings and you'll be good to go. So much better than a Zebco 33 lol I see myself having a collection of most s... Buy it....
Shipping was extremely fast. 3 days with no prime membership. A lot of people said it was hard to dial in but I think they just don't know how to use a baitcaster. Had it perfect after the first cast. No backlashes yet, very smooth, nice drag. Paired it with a Lews 7 foot MH fast action rod and 40 lb braid. Seems to be holding up nicely so far. I was a bit hesitant at first when buying because of the price point but even if it only lasts 2 years then it is still a good deal. If you're on the fence about it then just buy it and try it out. You won't be dissapointed.
The angry customer
I bought this reel 6 months ago and the thumb bar started to crack just recently. I let know and they sent me a brand new replacement reel because they just know how to take care of customers! Great warranty! Great customer service! I love this reel too much it was my 1st baitcaster going into as a beginner and now I have different types of baitcasters and I still love using this one over my shimanos, quantums, abu garcias, etc... It cast very smooth and the braking system is top of the line! For the price I would recommend this to anyone who wants to get into baitcasters!
The reel looks to be built from quality materials and seems just as sturdy as my quantum baitcasters (KVD). Mine came oiled and greased, so it was smooth from the get-go. (Some seem to have had other experiences--getting reels that hadn't been lubed properly at the factory; but mine was lubed and ready to go.) Calibration for casting takes awhile, especially for lighter lures, but it casts fine eventually. I use mostly weightless senkos 4"-5" and they cast far without backlash (12lb braid), unless I make a mistake. The reel is obviously very inexpensive, and that was the draw for me, but it seems to work just as well as my BPS Extremes (also cheap). I haven't used any really expensive baitcasters ($200+) so I can't compare to them, but relative to other reels I've used these ones are up to par, and less $ so...good purchase.
This reel is a bit complicated to use at first, but once you get the hang of it its a really good reel for its price. with spinning reels, you can skimp on quality because it will perform about the same. a good quality baitcaster reel will definitely outperform the majority of spinning reels. this reel definitely fits in the higher quality category for its price.
So far so good. I love this thing! It is my first casting reel and I could not be happier.I was leary buying an underpriced caster as my first baitcasting reel because I have heard some nightmare stories of wicked backlashed birdsnests.Let me just say this....I have never used a baitcaster prior to this reel...not once.I read some instruction on how to adjust the settings and there I was, off rippin lips and casting miles. My first time out with this reel and I hooked up with 4 fish in 2 hours, landing a 2 and 3 pounder.I lost the other two from lazy hooksets ):I must have cast this thing 200-300 times that day and not a single birdsnests.Great job Last King! Very fine product. If you ever need a tester for any of your other products, feel free to reach out to me as I would endorse your gear every step of the way.I might even roll with your gear when I start to hit the tourney's.Thanks again for a great product.
I had only ever cast with spinning reels previously. I bought this based on YouTube videos showing that even with zero thumbing technique you can cast with out back lash. 100% agree!!! I have taught myself quite quickly how to cast over hand, side arm, and under hand flick in approximately 5 trips out.It handles very well. I've been able to cast my 3/8's lure over 40 yards using a Shakespeare ugly stick pole. So far I've used spoons, swim baits, jigs, and rooster tails. All cast very well after making the adjustments to tension knob and brakes.
Sweet, my 2nd baitcaster but the first I have actually kept in my arsenal. I just have to figure out how to keep my casted line from digging into the line at the spool when I latch on to a fish that is really fighting. For example, when I go to make the next cast after I release the previous big fish, the line will only go 11-12ft then stop abruptly. I am using braid so I may have to switch it for mono.
The features and function of the is directly on par with by far more expensive reels.I have learned to use baitcasters with many different features. All have been frustrating and difficult. I have not experienced the endless bird nesting of other, I think mainly due to the braking system. I am very impressed. It is one of my go-to reels at every angling event.
You won't be disappointed in this reel. This is an AMAZING reel! Made by . Some of you are saying, "Who is ?" I asked the same thing. You will spend more at most retail stores and get less for your money than you will get with this reel. This Royal Legend low profile baitcaster has 11 + 1 shielded bearings, 17.5 lb carbon fiber drag, 7.0:1, light weight, and a sweet looking reel. I have switched this a few times using it for different setups. I am switching all of my gear over to . So far I own 6 reels, and happy with all of them. Seriously, this reel is $39.98. Try it for yourself, and you'll be hooked on . My addiction is fishing and my gear. Fortunately, I found a Company now with Great customer service, and great products.
JJ Holiday's little brotha
I own the Whitemax & Stealth. I love reels because the quality and price can't be beat! These reels easily compete with other brands who sell their reels for hundreds of $$$. The Whitemax is heavier (7.5 oz) but I found the perfect match for it with a 4.2 oz 6'6" M/M Diawa. This slow geared reel is great for cranks, spinners & topwater baits. Basically anything you want to move slow while in the strike zone.
After years of not being able to go fishing I'm back at it. Always waited to try a baitcaster but didn't know anyone to pick there minds about it before I committed. Ended up finding family with them and tried to horrible failures. Saw this talked to some guys at work & they said the specs were great. Long story short I got it and after a few hours in the back yard I can cast consistently and pretty accurately. Working on reducing the brakes and practicing a bit more and I should be taking out on my next day of fishing. Did take it to experienced guys at work and they said it felt pretty good and is a decent size.More to come when I take it out.
Looks like a return, but I got it for $28.I think it will clean up just fine but I would like to have the adjustment tool that comes with it.Clutch feels good, drag feels good, spool spins good, handle is 4" or more, finish is glossy which I don't like.Looking to buy the $90. High speed reel they make when it goes on sale.A BARGAIN @$28.
So being Im on the california coast and this reel boasts its drag system of 17 lbs. I wanted to beat this thing with a full 8 hours of saltwater fishing for rockfish and potental ling cod. We fished about 150 feet of water and the capacity of the reel gave me still a 30% of line (14 lb flurocarbon). Jigging a 4 ounce weight with a live sardine this reel really did good. Catching average size rock fish this reel just man handled them all. Not giving an inch of line out even on the bigger canary rockfish. The reel test came when hooking a decent size ling cod. The rod shot down but the reel held up just fine without letting any line for the lingcod to run. A few weeks after the trip. The reel hasn't had any issues both mechanically and cosmetically. Overall just buy the reel
Great budget reel. If you want something nicer then go ahead and spend the money but if you are looking for something with a lower cost but with the features of some higher end reels this is for you. I am still testing mine but thus far it has performed well. Cast easily and far. Drag, tension, and brake adjust easily. Audible clicks for adjustments which I am a fan of. The retrieve is very smooth and the advertised gear ratios appear to be accurate. A lot of people talk trash about these reels but I have yet to see what the fuss is about.
I've fished for a long time. I've had a variety of bait casting reels, mostly Shimanos. I was pleasantly surprised at the smoothness, and castability of the reel. Loaded it with 10 lb mono, tied on a topwater, took it to my lake and by the third cast, I was getting impressive distance, and no backlash. It's a keeper in my book.
This is the first baitcaster that I have owned myself, but I have had light experience (5-7 fishing trips) with other baitcaster reels and I must say from my intial impression I am more than pleased. I read the reviews from the past indicating that some of the reels others had purchased had came a little dry, but I did not have this issue. Broke the reel down a little and found adequate lubrication in all the critical spots and the action is butter. With the help of some tips on the internet I was able to spool this reel up and adjust it and was doing some succesful practice casts in my yard no problem! You can't beat what you get for the price point and if you do your homework I don't see why anyone wouldn't be able to learn how to use a baitcaster with this reel. Can't wait to go to some local ponds and try to pull some bass out tomorrow!
i've used this reel quite a few times now and fishing every weekend for a couple months and i feel like it has broken in very good and i've gotten used to it to the point i feel like i can leave a review:Pros:PriceLightweightNice foam gripsCons:construction, although this is subjective, some may prefer magnesium bodied but at the cost of weightmagnetic brake system can take some getting used to. i feel like anything under 7 is birds nest city.
