Bought this for my 6 year old son as a birthday present. He was extremely happy with it.I did "play" with it a bit and can say the following:Pro's: The built in battery works very good and holds a charge. Feedback from the pads and drum stick interaction is good, but using a finger is nearly as satisfying. Speaker is loud enough to enjoy but not so loud as to fill the house (big thumbs up!!)Cons: While the sound is overall very good, the high and low end have some minor distortion. It's not a deal breaker and doesn't effect the overall value, but feel it's worth mentioning. For the price this is an extremely good electronic drum kit that my kids (and I) have thoroughly enjoyed using. I highly recommend it.

Really great little drum set. It is definitely table-top size. I would venture to say it would just barely comfortably fit on a students desk without falling off th me sides, but just barely. The settings on it are fantastic, giving all kinds of different drum sounds to play around with. My five-year-old son has been interested in drums, but I have another baby coming, and drums are LOUD. Not so with these! Because the makers thought of that and installed a volume control that goes from loud enough to hear across the house to quiet enough to play in the same room as other people without annoying them. When my son wants to play me a concert, he cranks up the volume, turns on one of the many demos, and goes wild beating the drums. A metronome is also built into the set, so as he ages and starts to show more interest in the technical aspects of music, the metronome will be an asset. As a music major and teacher myself, I am very pleased with this set. It covers the basics without breaking the bank or my eardrums. My only complaint is that it does not plug into the wall without an adaptor. I use the end of my iPhone charger to plug in the drums, but its kind of a pain to switch between a charger and a drum set. Otherwise the product itself is well worth purchasing, especially for kids showing an interest in percussion.

Son is in love, I am in love because it is rechargeable (no constant replacement of batteries), takes up minimal space (literally just able to roll it up and store), and my personal favorite...headphone jack. We had drum sets in the past, the noise got annoying quickly. With this my son can plug in his headphones and listen to what he is playing without the whole house being forced to listen to it.Recommend!

I've been a musician most of my life but I haven't had any real experience as a percussionist, other than the fun of banging on things which I still do today even as the adult I'm supposed to be. So when the opportunity came along to play around with a portable electronic drum kit, with all of the options that you see here, I couldn't resist. The Rockpals Portable Electronic Roll up Drum Pad Set is a compact drum kit with several options that I'll detail below. The biggest difference in this model is that it's battery operated, powered by a 2400 mAh lithium battery, which the manufacturer claims will give you 10 hours of battery life. Even if there's a little exaggeration there, that's still a pretty impressive figure and definitely enough playing time to get in a full day's practice or a full day of driving everyone in your house crazy! The drum pad has seven pads and two pedals. with the pads (by default) giving you the following: Crash, Tom1, Ride, Hi-Hat, Snare, Tom 2, and Tom 3. I say "by default" because the drum pad offers five different options. The default is Pop but by pressing the Timbre button, you can cycle through to Rock, Latin, Electro, and Percussion, as well, with the sounds that the pads make changing as you do so.To put the pad through its paces, there is a Demo button and this, too, offers multiple options, with a Heavy Rock demo, plus Funk, Latin, Dance, Samba, Cha-Cha, Swing Hi-Hat, and Upbeat Rock. The pad also offers a Click (metronome) button and this was my first disappointment because while there are three Click choices, there is no way to adjust the tempo. Unless your song just happens to be at one of those tempos, you'll be out of luck. One thing I found interesting is that there is a Special button that allows you to switch two pads around, so that you can either have your Hi-Hat on the outside, with your Snare next to it, or you can have your Snare on the outside with the Hi-Hat next to it, depending on your preferences on on the song you're playing. The foot pedals also offer independent sounds but this was my second disappointment, as I found them to be fairly noisy in operation, with audible clicking noises in addition to the sounds they are supposed to be making. I would have also liked them to be a bit heavier, more likely to stay put. In operation, they were light enough that I occasionally found them wandering around in use and I'd have to put them back where I wanted them again.Other controls included with the drum pad are the on/off button (of course), a start/stop button for the Demos and the Clicks, an MP3 input button, a speaker/headphone output, and a USB/Midi output button. I didn't test the latter but the manual says that it will allow you to connect to a computer to play a drum game or to hook up to a music creation program, so that you can create a drum track by actually playing the drums rather than clicking and dragging with a mouse. The speakers were decent quality and were surprisingly loud, all things considered. Not loud enough that you could use them in a crowded party situation but certainly loud enough for practice use. For anything more than that, you'd want to hook up a set of speakers. To my untrained ears, the sounds were quite good, not overly tinny or fake. I suspect a real percussionist wouldn't even come close to being fooled but for a practice pad, this was more than adequate. And certainly more than adequate for a beginning percussionist or for those, like me, who just want to have fun.The bottom line is that this is a nice, compact kit, with a lot of options and the flexibility of being able to take it anywhere, since it's battery-operated. If you don't need the battery, if you'll always be playing somewhere with easy access to electricity, then you can purchase a slightly cheaper set. Otherwise, this is competitively priced for what it offers. The only two disappointments were the metronome and, just a little, the foot pedals. Except for those, I was favorably impressed and I can definitely recommend this. I went back and forth as to whether this was a four-star review or a five-star review. I compromised on 4.5 and rounded down since won't let me give a half a star. Nonetheless, I really did like this drum pad.Disclaimer: The manufacturer provided a free sample for this review with no restrictions on the outcome. I have no personal or financial interest in the company or in anyone employed there.

This is awesome, I brought it for my son as his 10th Bday as her recently started taking drum lessons. I LOVE THE EARPHONES!!!

This is a great little space-saving instrument for the person who wants a drum set, but theres no way theyre getting one. Its fun to play, and has lots of great features. The volume goes really loud for when no one else is home, but also really soft (or you can use wired headphones) for when you need to be quieter. They seem to have thought of everything you might need. Theres a good video review here that goes over all the details. My video shows us playing the drums. Definitely a fun toy for a kid, or a good instrument for someone older who wants to make their own music.

My grandson loved this but unfortunately one of the circles did not play. Wished I could have replaced it rather than get a refund and reorder. Hard to get it away from him to return and reorder. I have confidence enough in the product to reorder the same one. So the 3 stars reflect it being defective. Would give it 5 if it had worked.
IMHO
These drums are great for a beginner, the sound is quite good (not loud enough for a gig but still pretty loud), there are several drum kit options, and they roll up out of the way when not in use. Also you can attach headphones so that practice time doesnt disturb the neighbors. They are perfect for apartments, travel (he even plays them on the air plane - with headphones) and practice. The foot peddles are a bit cheap but they work and for the price its an excellent practice set.

My kids absolutely loved this electronic drum set. Once I got it out of the box, it kept them busy for a good amount of time. I love the fact that it's rechargeable and does not need batteries and it's really fun for kids and adults and my opinion. Also it comes with an aux cord so you can plug it into your phone or MP3 player and play music through the speaker of the drum set. This would be a really cool gift for the holidays or for a birthday.

UPDATE: The seller responded promptly and sent me a replacement drum pad. The new one works great, and he is very happy; so I am happy! He uses it all the time just to bang around, take a study break and relieve stress. My only wish is that it came with a tutorial so he could really learn to play. I've changed my review from three stars to five stars because the seller responded promptly and stood behind their product.I purchased the RockPals Electronic Drum Set for my son for Christmas. He didn't play it much, but really liked it. However, it is now January 14, so we've had it less than a month, and when he went to play on it today, there was a loud distortion/feedback noise. He tried unplugging it and plugging it back in, but the same thing happened. We're thinking we have a defective one. I've emailed the seller to see if we can return this one and get a replacement. Will update when I hear from the seller.

This roll-up drum set is very cool. Roll it out when using, and then roll it up for traveling. Just needs few hours of charging and it's ready to use for hours on end. The two speaker built in it is really nice. Nice and clear sounding, can get carried away and still sounds wonderful. Has the ability to hook it up to musical equipment for recording as well. Comes with drumsticks, AUX cord, and two attached boxes all for the drum set. Everything you need to get playing and having fun. Great for kids and adults. This is a great drum set for newbies wanting to learn how to play. Everything is nice quality, built well, and very durable. The pad itself where the circles are to make the sounds are waterproof so no worrying of spilling something on it, and it breaking. Very neat traveling on the go drum set for whenever you need it.

My 12yr old plays drums in the school band and she really likes this set. It takes no batteries, it just plugs into a phone charger. There are multiple setting so you can add music or a beat to what you are playing. Each circle plays something different so it really helps to teach her drums. It's obviously not a real drum set, but this set rolls up and take almost no room, where a real set takes up a big part of the basement.

This thing is surprisingly way higher quality than I imagined. I did anticipate it being larger but it's awesome. The pedals and pad are great, it's perfect for a table top. I like that the drum sticks are included. It doesn't really fold up as neatly as I though as it's not big enough to really wrap around the speaker but it will fold in half. Haven't tried out the rechargeable battery yet as we just leave it plugged in.
carrie
My family and I like this drum very much, because it is not so noisy as those drums. Because my family had bought that kind of drums, because too noisy, afraid of noisy neighbors will not dare to play again. Now this drum it has headphone mouth, as long as you plug in headphone casually how you play are not afraid to disturb others, and it is very small area, do not play when you can roll up, so particularly good.
PS
When I first started to connect this I had tried to find the plug. But this has a rechargeable battery inside to power the unit. The drum sticks and the drum pads when on are pretty responsive. My two year old daughter loves it to make sounds and beats. The good thing is you can control the output volume and content to a set of headphones. I would have liked more beats to play with or some tutorial on making beats for starters.
Edkoz106
Bought it for our grand kids. they use it when their dad plays his sax. They are 6 years old, do not know if they are learning any thing, but they are having a good time with it. They're parents love it that it has the headphones - so they do not hear the kids "music" all the time.
Mariah
Great little drum set. Subtracting a star because the pads could be a little bigger, they are very small... The sticks are very thin & small too. I do like having the ability to put in headphones so others don't have to hear you play. Overall great product, I would just make the pads bigger instead of little 2-3in circles.
Tim
They have a tendency to run out of battery very quickly, which can seriously just start the sound in the middle of a performance. However, for my nine-year-old son these are amazing! He loves being able to play without getting yelled out, because those headphones changed his life and mine! He has been getting more and more musical and creative, right under our nose is. Its a very good gift

If I could give it 10 stars I would! Love it! Reasonably priced and amazing sound. We've only had it 1 day, so I can't speak to the longevity of it, but it seems super durable.I was a little surprised at the size.....it was smaller than I expected, but my son can totally rock out on it without a problem.A lot of fun.

Bought this drum set for as a gift for my friends daughter. She loves it !Built in battery and speakers makes this drum set very portable. Speakers are loud and clear.I found this drum set is much more than a toy for kids but actually pretty useful if you are amateur drum player or just want to practice drum for fun. It offers different special sounds kits for different music style.Great product overall :)
camie
This drum set is awesome! Great sound and rolls up easily. Headphone jack is a must...especially when giving to a 5 year old.
Always Avid
9 year old likes it, but sometimes one of the drums won't work and then the next time it does.

My son loves these. Nothing like waking up at 630 a.m on my day off to the sound of a toddler marching band in my living room. They are loud and obnoxious just as he wanted them. They look like they can take a beating too, since they are made of rubber. Buy the Asurion warranty just in case ??

This set is very good, but has some issues. First the good. I bought this for my 5 year old son, who's been playing drums on the video game Rock Band for several months. The drums here sound very good. Not perfect, but very good. The pads are sensitive and easy to hit. There are two foot pedals; one for the bass drum and one to close the high hat. The internal speaker is very good and should satisfy anyone. The battery is excellent. I think I've charged it once in the month we've owned it. My son only plays it for a few minute at a time, but the fact that we haven't had to charge it again is encouraging. There's also a button called "special" which switches the high-hat and snare drums around. I didn't know why this was important at first, but after playing for a bit it makes sense. It allows you to hit the high-hat with your right hand without having to cross your arms over each other, like what you'd do on a normal drum set. It also makes the two line up to how they would be on Rock Band, so my son can actually play the Rock Band songs on this drum set and have the drums match. The headphone jack works well. If wearing the headset, people can still hear the sticks hitting the pads and the food pedals, but in a bedroom with the door closed, the sound doesn't carry that far. Certainly much better than a real drum or without headphones. Now for the bad. The pad is extremely sensitive and often misfires and plays the wrong sound. It also will occasionally miss a beat, so if you hit the same pad 10 times, maybe 9 of them would sound and 1 would not, which can be annoying. It also has a tendency to make a double-hit sound even if you're only trying to hit the pad once. I would not recommend it for anyone who wanted to perform in front of a group. I wish the device was slightly less sensitive. Also, every drum hit sounds exactly the same regardless of how lightly or strongly you hit it, so you can't make accent or ghost notes. It's not a big deal for beginners though. Lastly, there's no stand so you just have to set it on a small table. Because it lays flat and is not an an angle, it's hard to hold the drum sticks like a normal drum and hit the pads accurately.Overall, I think this is worth the price for anyone who is interested in drumming but doesn't want to commit to an expensive, bulky, noisy drum set. If you really like drumming, this wouldn't satisfy you for long and it's not reliable enough to use in public. If you're comparing this to other models, I think the fact that it comes with it's own speaker and internal battery is a huge bonus. It makes it easy to set up anywhere. Lastly, I think the coolest thing about this is that the skills my son has been learning on Rock Band can actually be translated to this device and he can play real drum beats. Apparently, there's a beginner drum beat that is used in countless songs that's a combination of the high hat, snare, and bass drum, which in Rock band are the yellow, red, and orange drums. Most Rock Band songs use that beat, and so once we used the "special" button to arrange the drums in the same order as Rock Band, my son could immediately play that beat (hint: you also have to keep your left foot on the high hat pedal to make the closed high hat sound). Once he figured that out it was like a light turning on in his head. Now he's learning more complex beats, but it builds off that first one.

So I bought this for my son for his birthday because he lives a small apartment and is only 2 years old. This is great because you can roll it up and take it with you and you can adjust the volume. It doesn't sound as good as a real drum set but for the price and how small it is it's a great value.
ekp
My kids both think it's fun. It's smaller than I thought it might be, but that's ok. I bought it because you could use it with headphones and I wouldn't have to always hear their lovely drumming, but they have yet to plug in the headphones...
Allen Justin Uffinger
Bought this as a Christmas present for my 4 year old grandson! Maybe it was a little payback to my first born son as well! That backfired! Max loves the drum set and even my 2 year old granddaughter gets in on the music experience. Hasn't driven the parents crazy! Oh well! There is always birthday and next Christmas. Will have to check on a Tuba! Excellent product and is holding up very well since December!
Hope
I got this set today. I think this set is good, but there is some sort of scratching noise after each the part of the drum plays, especially with the snare. I got this on sale, but honestly I DO NOT think that the sound quality is worth $260. Otherwise, I do think it is a good product and very portable. If you don't want the scratching noise, I wouldn't get it. Also, it is VERY sensitive, hit the stick, or even your finger on it too hard, and you will get a repeated sound, which sounds terrible. I know this sounds like it shouldn't be a 5 star review, but I just want to tell people that there a few issues, but I'm pretty happy with it.

My team at work bought this as a gift to a young boy in a disadvantaged family and I think it is very cool and has a great sound. My husband is a musician with a knack for learning new instruments, so I bought him one for Christmas! I hope he loves it!
Ray T.
Sounds realistic and for the price is Excellent. It though a toy or musical set for an amature. Dont expect proffessional quality for this price. If you want a drum set for your child who is interested in music, buy it
Brent Quick
This was a great choice for my son. He can practice to his heart's content, and he can plug in headphones so we don't have to hear him. When he's done, he can just roll it up and put it in the closet. Very practical space-saving solution!
cheshire
Bought it for my 1-year old son's birthday. Have had it for less than a month, but every day my son enjoys playing on it. It actually seems to have a bit more usability than a toy, as there are 5 different drum set sounds that can be used and it can be plugged into a computer to use with recording apps. I have played on it a little bit, and the drum sounds are decent enough for recording demos. I have not used it in this way yet, but will give it a try for recording my own musical compositions. But really, most importantly, my son is enjoying it. Recommended, especially for the price.

I bought this set for my grandson. Plugged it in and off he went. It did not take long for him to figure it out. I highly recommend it. It was nice that he could plug in his headphones.

Wow! 12-year-old grandson is using it and is portable when traveling. Uses earphones when others around don't want to hear it. Order it and you'll be surprised how well it works and sounds.
DVanto
not toooo bad, good for someone wanting to learn or see if they're even interested in it, small children. good for the price, dont expect too much out of this.
Customer
We already got a Gita a piano and now we got this toy! You will feel that there will be live performances every day, of course, if you dont pay attention to what they are playing. Anyway, they really loved this toy even my little 2 years girl! Different sounds with different key! So exciting! Haha!

Great sound, my 9 year old is taking lessons and it is good for beginners to practice on. Only reason not 4 stars is that the pedals are difficult to use and they make a clicking sound.
