This is not my first electric shaver, however it is my first Remington electric. After reading the negative reviews I decided to ignore them and order it anyway because some people just can't be pleased, or they don't really know what to expect from an electric shaver. Used properly this Remington gives as good a shave as any other brand electric shaver. It arrived fully charged and after a dozen shaves it's still at 80 percent charge. It is very easy to use and clean, and gives consistently nice close shaves. I've experienced no "razor burn", no pulling or pinching of the skin or any other uncomfortable issues. I've even used it on my scalp. I'm pleased with this purchase...good electric shaver at a reasonable price....and if it lasts, the replacement heads are much less expensive than the other brands I've used.
BEST SHAVER EVER!!!!To any reading this I am an African-American male getting ready to depart for basic training on Jan 13th (todays date of this review is Oct 12th) I have always had problems with the usage of regular razors and getting razor bumps. However, being clean shaven is part of the requirements and with the pay and duty requirements for regular enlisted I knew I wouldnt be able to go to the barber every other day to stay smooth.I searched literally for a week before deciding on which particular shaver to buy. I looked at the top expensive models from Braun and Panasonic but couldnt quite bite the bullet cuz of the price tag. After I figured out that I wouldn't spend more than 100 bucks I started looking at features of each specific razor. Keep reading:The thing that caught my eye about this is the Interceptor Shaving Technology. Basically it has a built in trimmer in between the two foils that will cut hair longer than stubble to stubble length. Every other foil shaver and even rotary shaver I looked at did not have this feature. And even my barber told me that with electric shavers you really have to not let the hair get longer than stubble or else they wont work. This appealed to me as more of a preventative and unique measure but still very beneficialI originally received this razor on Sept 24th and I have been using it for about 2 and a half weeks and have been using it without fail ever since. In my case a couple weeks before I received it I stopped shaving because I had to let my face heal from trying to use a regular razor so I had about a solid 1/16th inch of hair covering my face. I unboxed it, read the instructions, and it took about 8-10 mins but the result was like I had shaven with a razor. I had no whiskers or stray hairs anywhere and my skin felt baby smooth and not irritated!I have been using it ever since without fail and still NO RAZOR BUMPS only baby smooth skin!!It's cordless so all you have to do is make sure it's charged before you use it. Some tips:1)Don't use alot of pressure when shaving.2)DO NOT go in circles or fast. Use deliberate kind of slow straight back-forth up/down side to side motions. This thing has a pivot head that adjusts to the contours of your jawline and neck. After using for a little bit you will notice a sound difference when it is actually cutting vs going over smooth hair free skin3)Make sure your skin is clean and completely dry and not oily4)Make sure you clean after every use. This helps to keep the razors under the foil able to cut like a regular razor5)For supreme results use day and night. I personally, use it at night only but my friend who I recommended this to has facial hair that grows extremely fast so he has to use it more but is still baby smooth and bump free like meI have recommended this to ALL of my friends and think I will purchase another one just in case it ever breaks or whatever. It is that good. LOVE IT!!!!!!
I frankly didn't believe the article I read about the best shavers for the buck. I've always been a Norelco/Phillips kind of guy, but I thought that this was definitely worth a try for three tenners. I mean, even if it didn't do a good job, that's just a couple lunches I wasted. Compare that to the two name brands where you try them out for several hundred dollars, and you regret your decision. So, I tried it. I couldn't believe how good this thing works as a day-to-day shaver! It's not perfect, mind you, but it has taught me a lot about how those name brands mark up their product and make us pay through the nose for an expensive shaver, when an inexpensive one works just as good. I mean, for crying out loud, this WHOLE shaver is cheaper than the replacement foil on my two name brand shavers!I still like the feel of a freshly cleaned out shaver (ala Norelco self-cleaning units) better, but not if it's going to cost me a ton of money. I don't enjoy taking off the foil, brushing it out, blowing it clean, etc. But other than that, it's great. My recommendation to you, gentle reader, is to keep this thing fully charged. I originally just charged it every couple of weeks, but I noticed that it does its best work when fully charged. Now I just keep it plugged in almost all the time, and I get a great shave daily. WELL DONE, Remington!

Read many of the posted reviews before making a decision. I prefer a foil shaver. Having had a Braun previously I checked their models out first. Whoa Nellie, the prices!!! No shaver should cost that much. Then read the reviews that they are now made in China and I tabled the Braun. Noticed the Remington 5800 at $54 so I read the reviews. 4.5 stars and great reviews by owners. Regardless of what others find objectionable regarding size and build quality, I found this to be an outstanding value and outstanding shave. Yes, it's larger than most razers and yes, it is plastic. So what? I found it comfortable in my hand and ergonomically well shaped. So it's plastic. It's a shaver not a hunting rifle. Just don't dribble it like a basketball and all will be fine. It gives me a very close shave without having to press hard against my skin and it handles the upper lip and chin better than most. I love the placement of the trimmer on the back of the razer as it allows me to get it in and around my ear to get rid of nasty ear hair. I have a soft beard and sensitive skin following radiation treatments and this Remington gets them all and leaves my skin unscathed. I've always used a moisturizer after shaving anyway. Money well spent on this and if it gives me 2 or 3 years of service I got my money's worth. I'd buy it again and recommend it highly.
Been using Remingtons for years and for the most part have been very happy. Left an F4790 (I think) behind on a trip and replaced it with PF7300 which initially was ok, it stopped holding a charge that would last more than 5 minutes. Reviews on this were for the most part good so I took the chance on a new one.Pros: holds a charge well, charges quickly (full charge in an hour), it is quieter than the F4790 but louder than the PF7300 but it does a better job than the PF (I've read complaints its loud, no idea what they're talking about).Cons: the shave isn't as close as the F4790 which was probly the best razor I've owned. It does a good job but will probly have to shave a bit more frequently, but still more than good enough.Extra: I use it to shave my head as well, good job, very smooth. I have some scars & nicks in my scalp and it handles them no problem. I'm able to do my whole head on less than half of a charge (there is a meter broken down by 20-40-60-80-100).
I bought this shaver to replace my 6-year old Remington MicroScreen MS2-280, but this review could apply to all MicroScreen 2 models: MS2-90, MS2-100, MS2-200, MS2-300, and MS2-400 series. If you own any of these models, just throw it out and buy one of these! I'll give you 12 reasons why I like this F5 so much:1). The long hair interceptor blade is floating, is located between the 2 foils, and runs full time. It is far better for trimming your beard short enough for the foils to finish the job easily. The MicroScreen long hair cutter is far away from the foils, has to be extended to work, and does a lousy job.2). The interceptor, cutters, foils, and head are all replaced at the same time. It's much easier to replace, and is not that much more expensive than the MicroScreen SP-69 foil & cutter option which is a real pain to change - but you already know that.3). The battery lasts far longer than any earlier Remington shavers, and I have been using Remington shavers for 40 years.4). There is a battery fuel gauge which easily shows you how much charge you have left in 20% increments. Previous Remingtons would often become unusable in the middle of a shave, and would need to be recharged to even continue running - I couldn't just plug it in and finish the job.5). The F5 uses a NiMH battery and it is big. The MicroScreen had a small NiCd battery I believe which developed a memory effect quickly, resulting in shorter recharges every month.6). The handle shape is easy to grip, unlike the MicroScreen which I could only hold with 3-4 fingers like you might hold a wallet.7). The blade cover snaps on firmly, and is made of flexible black plastic. The MicroScreen cover simply falls off when it touches anything in your suitcase, and is made of hard clear plastic which cracks easily like all previous Remington covers making them useless unless you tape them on.8). The shaver head pivots forward and backward about 30-40 degrees to keep the cutters square on your face. I didn't think this was very important until I used it. Now a big fan of the design.9). The shaver is about half as noisy as previous shavers. Nice.10). You can rinse out the clippings by simply pulling the foil holder off and holding the cutter area under the faucet. I prefer however to just tap the shaver on the side of the sink.11). The shaver can be recharged in 2 hours instead of overnight. Much more convenient.12). The charger wall wort is 12 volts instead of the 4.5 volts used with the MicroScreens. I'm not sure if that means the motor is more than twice as powerful, but it seems like it is.If you want a hint for a great shave, don't use the stinky pre-shaves that cost so much at the grocery store. Go to the 99 cent store and buy a big container of baby powder. The main ingredient is talc which many pre-shave sticks use. Put it on as thick as you want and shave it off. I'll bet your single bottle will last for years like mine does, and your wife will love the smell.Buy. Enjoy.
(You can skip this part)I have been having trouble finding a good shaving instrument for years now. My personal issue is ingrown hairs. I have tried safety razors, trimmers, and all manner of disposable razors. It seemed no matter what I did or what razor/ shaving cream combination i used I would get ugly ingrown hairs under my chin on my neck. Why not just grow a beard? I can't. I either look like a drug addict or a pedophile. Both looks I wish to avoid. I wanted something that would cut my hair short enough to looked kept but long enough not to allow the skin to grove over the stubble. I also didn't want to spend a ton of money on something that didn't work for me.(actual review)This foil shaver was a great compromise. It was inexpensive enough to gamble on and works well enough that I still use it to this day. I sometimes have to cut stubborn hairs with scissors but is never more then one or two.Pros:-Inexpensive-Easy to use, it's self explanatory-easy to clean-Safe to use (seriously, I have been pretty rough on my face with it and have no worries. Even around a mole on my neck.)-Holds a charge for weeksCons:-It can take several passes to clip all hair to even length.-Your face has to be completely dry or there is friction while shaving. It doesn't really do much but inhibit the shave and make it a little uncomfortably.-It can miss fine hairs. Around my mouth I have seen fine uncut hairs. I doubt anyone else would notice but looking close up I can.
I have been using electric shavers for over 45 years since I was a teen. My first was a Remington Mark something in the 1970s. It was a gift from my Dad who took pity on me because I kept cutting myself. He had a corded Schick electric shaver. Over the years I've used corded and cordless shavers of all quality and price levels (Braun, Remington, Wahl, Norelco and a couple of cheap knockoff copycats). I've found that knockoffs are never any good, and that spending about $50 to $70 is the sweet spot. The quality of the shave doesn't get better with $100 to $200 shavers, but you may get more features, like a cleaning system. This one falls towards the top of my price sweet spot., but it has a nice battery charge gauge and works as well or better than more costly shavers. It shaves comfortably close and it does so if I've shaved on a daily basis or haven't shaved in days. It is comfortable in my smallish hands and feels well made. It's fairly plain and not fancy. It has one feature that shavers in this audience mostly do not have: a nice battery gauge.Bottom line: its a great shaver at a good price.
Bought this two years ago. Used it for a few months, then decided to see what difference a higher-priced razor might make. Bought a Braun Series 7. After a few months of using the Braun and not being satisfied with it not shaving very close, brought out the cheaper Remington again --found that the Remington gives me a closer shave! Costs for replacement Braun 7 foil being absurd even if you can find them, I've decided to replace the foil of my Remington and just keep using it.
I have used Remington shaver products for many years with mixed results. Perhaps ten years ago, the Remington shaver offered a smooth, comfortable shave, at a very reasonable price. As the years went by, these shavers seemed to morph into a totally mediocre product , characterized by breaking parts and clumsy design. Three of my Remingtons lost their "clipper" attachment in six months or less. The model 3800 shaver embodied engineering which might have been acceptable in pre-historic times--it was loud, difficult to hold, and provided a second-rate shave. It was therefore, with great trepidation, that I tried one more product: the 5800. I have had this shaver for four months, and so far, it is a dramatic improvement, reminiscent of my early Remington experience. The 5800 provides a clean, comfortable, close shave, with a variety of features including cord/cordless operation, and an LED power supply indicator. For the price I paid, the new Remington is a real bargain, comparable to shavers, three or four times as expensive. Get this shaver while the supply lasts--who knows, Remington might just revert to its old, "Attilla the Hun" shaving systems(although I truly hope not).
According to , I bought this in 2014, and I am now buying my third one. This is the razor I will use until I die of old age, if Remington keeps making it.I have always had neck bumps, starting with shaving in the Army long ago. I pretty much quit shaving my neck and just used a trimmer for it and shave the rest of my face. Once I bought the F5, I could finally shave my neck again. This shaver does not cause bumps, as long as I don't press too hard..If you are looking for a great new razor, give this one a try.
The last electric shaver I owned was a Norelco rotary head from the 70s. I never liked it much - it irritated my skin so I stopped using electric shavers. Of course technology has improved greatly so I figured I'd give electric shavers another try; the price and reviews on this Remington were positive so I took the plunge. I've only used it now for three days but I really like it. It gives a close shave, almost the same as a blade, and it doesn't irritate the skin. These were dry shaves. I'll try it with some Lab electric shave tomorrow. As it is now it's quick and easy to use. I charged it for 24 hours immediately on receipt. It charged just fine. Time will tell about the longevity. At this point I would highly recommend it.

I have been using electric shavers for most of my adult life for one main reason. Razors tend to irritate the area around my lips and if I'm not careful the irritation turns into a cold sore (discomfort and embarrassment for a week or more afterwords). My first electric was a Remington which did pretty well. I think I stopped using it after the mesh screen disintegrated (but that was after YEARS) of use. I then got a Norelco because (don't laugh) Pierce Brosnan used it in one the of the James Bond films. That worked okay for many years then I got another Norelco model. The replacement heads on that were $40 a pop! (I couldn't just buy the replacement circular blades, had to buy the whole head!) The last head fell apart not long after I got it so I thought I'd get another shaver and after a lot of research decided on the Remington (especially after reading the review from the 90 year old WWII vet). The day I got it and started using it I was amazed at what a great job it did. It takes longer than shaving with a blade in order to get a smooth shave but for me to be able to get close especially around my mouth is worth it. It cuts WAY better than the Norelco AND the price of the shaver was the same as the replacement Norelco head. It's got a built-in trimmer, too, for the neck (or anywhere else you need, like sideburns). I'm extremely happy with my purchase. The charge seems to last a week or two, as well. It's a quality product.
I'm giving it a very high rating for it's comfort, but it does have a few things that need attention. The head assembly is easy to clean, although it takes strong fingers to get it loose. Also, I can only get about 3 fast shaves from a full battery charge. My older rotary shaver used to get much more than that. Overall, it's still the best razor I have owned. It's fast, comfortable, and has a nice look. Update: I'm going from 5 star to 4. Battery finally failed completely, so I'm going to try soldering in new batteries. I must say customer service from the manufacturer and have been sincere, but I don't want to be taking advantage of a warranty that's simply out of date. New batteries will be fairly cheap to purchase anyway. This shaver is good --just watch for any battery problems.
I've used Brauns for years now but this last one not sure which it is maybe series 7 paid about $150.00 for it. I usually drop or accidentally break this brand before I can wear them out. This one I've actually wore out so started looking around and googled "best electric shavers 2019" This rater gave it #5 I looked for it on found it for $39.99 and replacement blades for $13.99 wow! sounds like a great deal. If this shaver last me 5 years I will be very happy 7 years and I will be very happy. First shave was great very sharp blades got real close, shaved later in the day and it just seems to glide across my face in minutes, this seems to be the best way 2 shaves a day that take only about a minute or two. I'm not real sure yet how I like the side trimmer? The shaver weighs about half what the Braun weighs, and the batterys charge very fast and stay charged for quite some time, these new shavers are really great, lets hope it lasts awhile. Update I'm 55 yrs. old and have been using electric shavers pretty much since I've been 16. I've used Norelco, mostly Braun shavers and had one Remington many years ago. Although I've only been using this shaver for about 7 weeks now I have to say this is the best shaver I've ever had and it's one of the cheapest. I'm still using the first blade and it is still sharp almost hard to believe and head is large takes me less time to shave. If this shaver will last 6-7 years I'd be really happy!
I don't have anything bad to say about this razor. I've never had a Braun, so I can't compare. I've has a few other rotary head. Those all chewed my face up and missed areas. This works great. I especially like the long hair clipper in between the foils. Thought I would not recommend trying to shave long whiskers with this. A good method if you let your stubble grow out for a few days or more is to knock it all down with a trimmer. I use that to shape my facial hair every few days and knock down all the tall hairs. Then go at it with this and it will take care of a few stragglers you might have missed. The key thing is to maintain very light pressure and let the foils grab the hairs, and go over everything a few times to be sure. Don't press down or it will chew your skin. It's VERY EASY TO DISASSEMBLE AND CLEAN. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.
I tend to wear a bit of scruff on my face so an incredibly smooth shave wasn't at the top of my lists when shopping for a razor. This model keeps my face trim and neat with a few quick passes. Someone looking to keep their face soft and completely smooth may tend to disagree. It feels comfortable gliding across my face and appears to be a good solidly constructed model. I expect to have this for a long time. There is a convenient scale on the front showing remaining battery life, which is a great plus, but with the ability to shave while the charging cord is attached it makes even this feature a bit unnecessary. If the battery runs dead in the middle of a shave I can just plug it in and keep going, so there's no need to worry about having a full charge at all times unless you're planning to not be near any electrical outlets. This razor does everything I've expected it to do. I would recommend this model to anyone based on my usage, and I would happily by this model again if necessary in the future.
I've been through several electric razors recently, trying to find one I like, and this one is hands-down the best!I like that it can shave either cordless or plugged into the wall. I have to unplug my Braun from the wall for it to work at all.It shaves more quickly and efficiently with the three cutter heads. It's comfortable, too. What more could you ask for?I also have a Braun and this razor puts the Braun to shame. The travel razors I've had have replaceable batteries. Problem is, they don't shave very well.
I bought this to replace my Panasonic shaver that no longer holds a full charge. The fact that you can use this while it's charging AND it holds a 60min charge is what sold me. I use this to shave my legs (yes, I'm female) and I could shave 5 legs on a full charge (that's 2.5 full shaves for people with 2 legs). I would give this 5 starts because the battery holds 60min as promised and the feel and function are both good, but I have to pass this shaver 3-6 times over each section of my leg before all of the hairs of that section get clipped. Yes, my leg hair is thinner and less dense than face hair and yes, it grows in different directions, so of course it wouldn't be 100% functional for my legs, but my panasonic got the hairs in 1-3 passes and as a foil shaver I still expect it to do it's job.Despite that minor inconvenience it gives a smooth and pain-free shave and again, the features on this thing are great. The pivoting head is very comfortable, the weight of it doesn't make my arm tired, the ability to use it while charging is very useful, and the little pop-out shaver is perfect for bikini lines. I also like the charge indicator so I know how many "legs" I have left before the next recharge.
Some time ago I bought a small, cheap foil-type shaver that ran on AA batteries, with the intent on using it for travel. I liked it well enough that it became my daily shaver, replacing my blade razor. The only problem was occasionally a hair would escape getting cut long enough that it would no longer go through the holes in the screen and so would grow out to 1/4" or more before I'd notice it and pluck it out. Eventually the foil needed to be replaced, and the replacement foil/head combination cost as much as the whole shaver, besides I was getting tired of changing the batteries all the time. So I started looking for a rechargable, and after reading reviews on a bunch of different shavers, settled on this one. With daily use, I find I can go up to two weeks on one charge. And with the cutter bar between the two foil sections I've had no further stray uncut hairs.
My husband wanted this so I ordered it for him. He likes it, but it is VERY LOUD. I always know when he is shaving because I can hear it all over the house. If noise doesn't bother you, then it should be fine. Remember I said it is LOUD.
A small screw (think glasses) attaching the swivel head to main body of the razor keeps loosening up. I've tightened once since it prevents attaching the foil screen after taking it off for cleaning, but quickly loosened again. Need to use some threadlock that will prob fix it.Aside from that I love it! I've been a wet shaver with razor for decades and have a couple sensitive spots on my neck. This electric shaver much more gentle on those areas.
Great shaver but................. it has what Remington calls an "interceptor". This is a cutter that removes longer whiskers that the regular shaving head would have a hard time with or not be able to cut at all. It works just like they intended but if you have a mustache or goatee you need to be careful around it. If you venture to close the "interceptor" is going to trim your mustache. It will not "gap" it but will get some hairs so be careful. That is not a product flaw, that is the way it was made. As an aside, I have used Remington shavers for years. They last a long time and do a good job. Well, I have one that is many years old and when I remove the blade cover and bump that shaver on the edge of the sink to remove the shavings, the blades fall out. It is just worn out, it works but the blade holders have just worn out. So, I bought a back up seven years ago and have used it maybe a couple dozen times in all those years. The primary always worked. Now that the primary is getting worn out I decided to go to the back up. Well after so many years of just sitting up, it will not take a charge on the battery. To replace the batteries and have it shipped back to me from an electric shaver repair facility would cost $39.80. You can buy a new shaver for about the same price.
This is an excellent razor for the price; it gives a clean shave quickly; is easy to clean; has a long charge life, and the replacement blades and shield are more reasonably priced than most. I had been using Norelco rotary shavers for many years now, but the last one I got just a year ago was doing a very poor job. I don't see a reason to spend a lot on a shaver since the replacement blades are expensive enough so I looked around for a reasonably priced model. I hadn't had a foil razor in many years but decided to try this one based on the reviews. It has been a very good buy and does a much better job than the one year old Norelco rotary that was much more expensive. Rotary blades are also much more difficult to keep clean; this one is a breeze in comparison. On top of it all, the replacement blades and foil are only around $16.
Don't listen to ONE of the negative reviews, this razor is the best AND I HAVE PROOF!If you look at my picture there, I bought supposedly the best razor from Wahl. It cost TWICE what the Remington F5-5800 cost, TWICE. I figured it's Wahl, they have a great reputation, I should get it. I'm sorry Wahl but your best razor doesn't even come close to matching the kind of shave from the Remington. The closeness of the shave, no razor bumps (I am black so my skin is super sensitive) and ease of use! The Wahl is literally a minor league player while Remington is a major league superstar. AND A BONUS: The little flip up trimmer on the back of the Remington IS NUTS! It trims better than my full blown Wahls and Oster clippers! I'm not joking folks.
When I first used it,it grabbed my hair and it hurt like a bitch...I almost smashed it but glad I didn't.I read up on it and if you have a very heavy beard or skipped a day you have to go with the grain first then you can go against the grain for a surprisingly close shave.I bought mine in 2017,I have shaved every day with it and the screen and blades are still perfect...new blade and screen is 13 bucks. I clean mine after each use,pop the screen off, turn it on under the faucet ...'you can get the top wet'..every so often I fill a cup with soapy hot water and turn it on and stick it in the water. The thing to remember is it won't cut long hair, this shaver cuts better than any disposable razor if you use it right, not as good as a mach 3,but I haven't bought new blades in 2 years so this thing paid for it self after 2 months.
so i've had this for a couple of days and already used it 4 times, i looked over the reviews and people complained bout the foil breaking and it scratching them, got me thinking twice.however, having a sensitive skin and it hurting and irritating when i use any kind of foam+razor i can tell you this is better than a razor, i can shave dry AND without having hair falling all over the sink because it captures all the trimmed hair inside the foil, i can just wash it when i'm done, leave it out to dry and its ready for use the next time. the very first time i used it it irritated my skin but i think thats because i still wasn't used to it or didn't know how to use it.but if you have a sensitive skin and don't like using razors i think this would be a purchase well worth your hard earned money.period.
Works great on my neck. I have had a 3 head razor for years and it always seems to miss areas on my neck. This handles long whiskers great but doesn't shave close enough under your nose. I use my 3 head razor for under my nose and a full shave if I need a close as a blade shave. I probably wouldn't purchase again due to its not a close shave. Holds a charge great. I am a shave twice a day guy 5 o'clock shadow around lunch so I shave before bed and when I get up with a 3 head razor this razor lets me shave just once when I get up. I think its a great razor overall other than not shaving close as a blade like my 3 head razor.
I bought this to replace my Wahl flex shaver which I bought 3 times and keeps dying on me, it shaves awesome but I just got tired of rebuying it every few months so I took a chance on this one this time, so far it does shave close enough but it takes a lot of passes to get everything smooth so it takes a while unlike the wahl which shaves super close like a razor without having to pass through so many times. This one definitely has better build quality compared to the wahl and the LED is definitely a plus. Now I'll just have to see how long this one lasts but so far I like it only thing is like I said it takes many passes to finally get a smooth shave that's why I take one star ?? Away.
I got this electric shaver in recommendation from a patient that I had worked with. He highly recommended this product to me so I figured that I would give it a try because I was looking to get a new electric shaver since I've never had one before. I wasn't convinced at first due to the price and the competition with big names like norelco, buy I was greatly surprised. The shaver came with detailed instructions out of the box. It was also halfway charged but was recommended by the manual to charge it to full capacity first before the first use. It charges quickly within a few hours. I've had one for about a year now. The battery capacity has not diminished at all to my knowledge. I shave every other day. The battery lasts along time for someone like me. I get up to about 1 to 1.5 months of use out of a charge. Simply incredible. It shaves closely to the skin and the trimmer is very effective. It doesn't tug either. I let my uncles try it and they were raving about it and have nothing but good things to say about it. I gave my first one to my uncle and bought a second one. Another uncle also got one and I'm thinking of buying one for my dad as well. I lost my charger a few months in and was able to get a replacements with ease. I haven't had to change the blade yet since I got my new one a few months ago. Highly recommended.
I shaved most of my career with a blade, but switched to a foil razor (Braun, series 3) a few years ago. It was "ok", but it needed a new, sharp head every 6 mos (vs the 18 they claimed). Even with a sharp, new head, I always had some "hidden spots", (like on my neck, right below the ear) where the hair just wouldn't all cut, but it sure pulled while trying!.So, after reading the good reviews of the Remington F5-5800, I tried it. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! The Remington is fast, sharp, and it doesn't pull. Now I shave in just a few minutes, and it's smooth, comfortable, and complete (no "hidden spots").Do yourself a favor, and get one. You'll save quite a few bucks, too.FWIW, by the way, I'm 75, & have a fairly light facial hair, so I often go 2-3 days between shaves. NO PROBLEM with the Remington.GB
I have had this razor now for two and a half years. I use it daily, and during this time, the razor has worked flawlessly. It rapidly takes a charge (1.5 hrs max to fully charge), and retains the charge for weeks. I've gone on multiple 2-3 week trips and never bring the cord. It cleans easily with a brush or under the faucet. The clipper for longer hairs works well for sideburns, etc. (but too big to get those pesky ear hairs!). Concerns about the durability of the screen were non-existent with me - I'm still shaving with no problems using the original. My only complaint (and the reason for the 4 stars) is that this seems to be a disposable razor. When the battery finally stops taking a charge, I can see no way to replace it, so I guess the razor just gets tossed? What a waste.
We just received this item in the mail. The first time I ordered it (as a Christmas gift for my husband) the wrong item was sent. We instead received a hair clipper. I contacted the seller via and without incident I was given a shipping label at no cost with which to send the wrong item back. At the same time I reordered this razor. We received it in about a week and my husband tried it immediately. It came very nicely packaged in a box with the charging cord and full instructions and warranty information. Also, it was fully charged (nice touch). I even used it on his sideburn area myself along with under his chin. It works great. In fact, we think it works better than any of the other razors he's had over the years from Norelco to Remington, to Braun. It's great that his quest for the best razor seems to be over at last. It cuts close without irritation especially on his problem area: the chin and under his chin and jaw line. On top of that the price was really inexpensive. It definitely isn't true that the more you spend the better in this case. I had first seen a very similar Remington razor in the Sharper Image catalog and decided to see if (which I'm addicted to) had a better price which they did--about 20 bucks cheaper. I decided to give this almost identical one a try and I'm so glad I did. I'm happy and more importantly, he's happy. The head pivots back and forth along the face making it easy to get where you want it to go. It comes with a cleaning brush and very specific instructions on how to clean and maintain the razor which comes apart for very thorough cleaning. And you can and should hold the head of it under running water which is really nice. He says it feels good in his hand and is just the right size and weight (he had a more cumbersome Norelco before this one). Overall it's been a very positive experience both buying/replacing and using this razor. Also, you can order replacement foils. It has that info in the booklet it came with. In the future I would definitely buy this again and the seller was great. Thank you, .
I have owned foil shavers for many years. I have been using Remington foil shavers over 30 years. The foil is very thin to get a close shave. Pressure on the shaver to try to "make it shave close" is not needed and will wear the foil out prematurely and you will be disappointed in the shaver. It shaves fast, close and the charge lasts a long time. Since it shaves pretty fast you don't have to wear down the charge so much. Just rinse it with the shaver running and it's clean. I am not impressed with the trimmer but most shavers have bad trimmers. It cuts well, it's just awkward to use.Use it gently and slowly and you will get to really like it.
Well. We'll see. Bought it in July 2015. October 2015 a tiny, and I mean tiny screw fell out . It controls the flex head part. I contacted them on a Saturday (not open) about the warranty which is very generous at 2 years. I am not hopeful this will be easily resolved. Remington is now owned by K-Mart. The company that bought SEARS . Good luck.UPDATE. As you can see I was contacted by Remington VIA my review here and asked to contact them. I did. They sent me a new razor with a return label to send back the old one. Needless to say I am very pleased as the warranty process is difficult to find on their site. I did eventually locate it and I filed a claim and I am assuming that it was cancelled because of this.Just to review: I liked the shaver but after a couple of months the foil mechanism would not snap on after I cleaned it. I found that one of the pivot screws had backed out. I tightened the screw and it happened again. The 3rd time I put some clear nail polish on it thinking it would hold the screw in place. It didn't. I think while rinsing the shaver the screw fell out all together. That's when I wrote my review. Eventually the other screw fell out rendering the shaver useless. However, I am pleased and surprised at how proactive Remington is. They apparently noticed my review and contacted me. The nice lady said the screws were not supposed to fall out like that. time will only tell. Anyway.I'll give them 5 stars. I liked the razor before it failed and I am totally happy about Remington response. Thank you to Remington.
Thoroughly enjoying this shaver! I had one just like this one before and liked it, which is why I bought it again after the other one finally gave up the ghost. What I really like about it is the previous shaver's head/foil and blades fit this one nicely, so I won't have to go out and buy another head/foil or blades when the ones on this one start showing their age. The only thing I don't like about this shaver is the swivel head. It may work well for someone else, but I've always found a locked head worked best for me. So I simply place my thumb up near the head and keep it from swiveling. I haven't actually measured how long the battery lasts, but it seems to last at least two weeks between charges (once a day use for less than two minutes). The battery level indicator is great and very useful!
This replaces my old one. Mostly the foil head had developed a hole and was allowing the blades to hurt my skin on occasion. The replacement foils are so expensive that it made more sense to buy a new one. Shame we have to do it like that. But this one works great for me like the original.10 month update: I have to get a new one. It was still pretty good, but not as good as new, but that is not why. My stupid puppy managed to get it and ruin the screens and break a pleas of plastic on the screen head. For the price of replacement parts, might as well buy a new one. Good thing it was not a $150 Braun.
I am pleased with this Remington shaver as it provides a clean, close shave, especially if used daily and the charge lasts for weeks without needing recharging. My only gripe about this shaver it that stubble falls out from the hairpocket from between the two screens while shaving which can be inconvenient if you are shaving after you have dressed as you will have hair stubble down the front of your shirt. This is not the result of built up hair stubble in the hairpocket as I clean it out every time I use it, just a design flaw I guess. Other than that issue it is a fine product.
I've had this shaver for over a year now. If you read my other reviews you will see I have experience with many shaving items. I go back and forth with different shaving devices. This electric shaver has made it's was to my top echelon of shaving implements. This shaver is a really nice quality piece of equipment, and for the price has it selling for now, it's a no brainer. Please consider it.The shaving head is large and the motor is very powerful. The quality of the shave is fantastic. I have found over the years that the use of a preshave with an electric really enhances the quality of the electric shave. I've used Remington Facesaver and it works great, but you really have to clean your razor afterwards. I've also used Afta Pre-electric and its a super product. I've actually found a wonderful way to enhance the shave of this Remington. I take Williams Lectric Shave, pour it in a pump bottle. And spray it on my face. Let it dry and then use this Remington F5 shaver and get a superior shave for very little money. I have a higher end Norelco which I still like, but even with new blades it does not shave as close as this Remington. This shaver just mows down the beard once you learn how to run it across your beard in accordance with how your beard grows. The Remington F-5 and Williams Lectric shave is an inexpensive way to get a super nice shave.
I purchased this in December 11th 2014. Where I work I am required to shave every single time I go to work due to wearing respirators. I have charge this thing maybe 3 times throughout. Maybe 4 times, I really do not know. I just know that it is not that much. I haven't had any irritations with this thing, which is good because I have very sensitive skin. As for how close it shaves, I would say that it shaves close enough. I'm looking for a newer shaver, however, I'm not sure if I should. This thing costs about $24 at the time for the Christmas sale. I haven't replaced any of the screens or the blades. Maybe I should do that. However, I could just buy this thing again during another Christmas sale or some other event. Although, I really want a very good shaver like the Braun Series 7 for 160 bucks that can clean and do other stuff. But why? Maybe I will wait and this thing is still running just fine and shaving just fine for me. Every single time I used it I shave for about 10 - 20 seconds and that is good enough for me.
I initially purchased a Braun thinking it was probably mfg better but was wrong. It lasted about 1 year with light duty (and it was the Shaver not the charger). I wanted to purchase the Remington originally but some commenters caused me to buy the Braun. I love my Remington. I have a beard and it goes right up to the beard line with no issues or pulls. It give me a very close shave with No Irritation, burn or pinching. Love This Shaver !!!!
I'm writing this for the ladies! I use this on my legs and omg talk about smooth! I have dark course hair on myLegs, and have never been able to find an electric razor that does not leave stubble. This razor actually leaves my legs completely smooth. It a quick shave and I use it everyday. It takes me about 5 to 10 minutes to completely shave from my knee down, it's perfection! The only downfall to this razor is it's a little louder than other ones I have tried. But I don't really care about noise, I care about smooth legs!So ladies, if you want baby butt soft smooth legs, this is the razor for you!

This shaver is much-improved version over the old one I had. It has a fast charging and long-lasting battery, easier to clean head and a trimmer built-in to the head that cuts longer hairs often pulled by the older version. It can also be used with cord or cordless. The accompanying pamphlet is somewhat confusing because it covers several models and fails to identify clearly which model has the features described; nor does it adequately elucidate how to implement the respective features precisely.
May not be a fair review cause I was using a popular brand travel electric shaver before I got the Remington F5-5800.The Remington F5-5800 is certainly more powerful compared to my old shaver, heavier and louder. Have not tried wet shave yet, but the normal shave each morning was rather enjoyable. Just follow the instructions; gently glide over in small circular motion to get a nice smooth and close shave. The cutter assembly can be easily poped out for a quick rinse under running water together with the exposed blades.Rechageable battery allows cordless use. Been using for a week now and power LED indicator still reads full.I am very happy with my Remington F5-5800 electric shaver! :)

I LOVE this razor. I checked a lot of reviews and this seemed like the best of the bunch. I'm soooo glad I bought it. I can't believe I put up with a "ladies razor" for so long. This is MUCH better! I use it for legs and underarms almost daily. I still use my bladed razor in the shower for the easier areas of legs but I use this electric for clean up and for around the knees/shins which are a major pain to get with a blade. I almost never bother to use a blade under my arms anymore because this is so much easier. I also will use the electric for touch-ups on days when I don't need to shower. This is a major timesaver! The shave is really close and clean up is easy. If it ever breaks I am buying the exact same model again. But so far no issues.
I've only used this for a week so far so I can't comment on longevity, but so far I'm loving it. Not too noisy and easy to clean under running water. Battery seems to last a long time. It's still showing 80% after 5 shaves. My favorite feature is the middle blade that trims longer hairs down so that the outer blades can do their job better. I often go for a couple days without a shave and other electric shavers have a hard time with those longer hairs. Not so with this. This was the only shaver in this price range that had this feature. I just wish there was a power button lock or some other way to prevent accidentally turning it on (such as when it's packed in a bag while traveling). I ended up having to buy a $9 travel case to remedy this. But overall, highly recommended for the price.
I've used several different brands of shavers and this one is the best. I used to use one of those three round head shavers but they never would cut all the hairs and I felt like it took so long for me to shave my face. With this Remington shaver it shaved extremeley close to the skin without cutting you. I only need to shave about two times a week and takes me less than 5 minutes to get the job done each time.
I purchased this shaver based on published reviews that make it stand out when you consider it is under $50 going up against $100-200 shavers. So far so good. Seems well made, takes a good charge, shaves satisfactorily, cleans easily and is inexpensive but highly rated--NO BRAINER. Lets see about it a year from now.
Wow! what a deal. I'd been looking for a replacement for my Braun for sometime now but couldn't find anything under $100 that I liked. Came across this and liked the reviews so I picked one up. I was skeptical, mostly because my wife says my glass is half empty, but this thing works great!! It is a little on the large size. The charge lasted over a week of everyday sue and recharged really quickly. The sideburn trimmer is a little awkward but it does work. So far so good.
My previous Remington Razor was many years old, so old that I had replaced the foil a few times because it got so thin it wore through. Tried another brand razor which was just OK. Went back to old Remington and when the latest foil wore out and the battery was almost gone, I bought this new model. It works very well. Cuts quickly and relatively closely. (Not as close as a razor, but real good for an electric.) Has mustache trimmer which works well. Holds a charge for a long time, like weeks. Head pivots more than enough for my needs. Has a substantial feel, a little bigger than my previous razors, but in a good way - it feels that it is exactly the right size now.
This shaver is the most comfortable shaver I have ever owned. It never pulls whiskers or irritates my skin, even without using a pre-shave or washing my face first. I would rate it 5 stars in every category (battery life, noise, cleaning ease, comfort, etc.) except one, shave closeness. It does a good job, but not great. I'd give it a 4 for closeness. So I rated it 4 stars overall.
I am using this model to replace a Remington Titanium series foil head razor. The older model is still running usinga cord but its battery pack died years ago. This model seems to do a better job at trimming off neck whiskers thanks to its foil head design. The fact that it has a 120/240 volt operation is a big advantage with traveling abroad. I am looking forward to a long service life from this unit.
I bought this razor as a replacement/backup for my dead Remington rechargable razor. This unit does what I need to have done at a reasonable price just as my older Remington razor did. In my opinion, electric razors cannot replace a good blade shave but today's electric razors do an excellent job and this unit is no exception. I guess what I am saying is that I cannot see spending hundreds of dollars for a razor when $50 will do it. I have never used the more expensive electric razors. I charged the razor per the instructions and estimate that I got over 20 shaves from this unit before it needed recharging. In comparison to my old unit probably lasted a week on a charge---about 3x longer for this unit. I would recommend this product.
This thing works amazingly well. I haven't tried an electric shaver for 20 years because they just didn't work well for me back then. But, I shave each morning with this in less than 5 minutes and it's effective and irritation-free.It doesn't shave as close as a razor, which means you will have more 5-O'Clock shadow at day''s end and you do have to shave every day...but it's fast. Also, the battery last two weeks of shaving between charges. This is one of those purchases I can't recommend enough. A must buy!
Better than 3 head razors..overall 5 stars! A lot to choose from but I went with 's recommendation and I'm glad I did. Price is right and it's a solid product. I don't use the sideburn trimmer so I cant speak on that (looks kinda cheap) and being a foil razor some areas are more difficult to reach. But that's really the only negative thing I can say.
I bought this shaver because I wanted to stop using plastic disposable razors. I have sensitive skin and a tough thick beard that electric razors could never shave well so I've been shaving, with a blade, every other day to keep the skin rash under control. This shaver is easy on the face and shaves my beard as close as a razor so now I can shave everyday without skin issues. It cleans easily and came with a fully charged battery so I could start using it immediately. Although not small it is compact enough to travel with. Great shaver and the discount at checkout was a bonus.
I've been very happy with this shaver. Going on three months, I just decided to replaces the heads as they were starting to get a little dull. The razor does a great job whether you choose to shave every day (sometimes) or every few days (usually in summer). Unlike some electric shavers I've had, it manages to get close and cut those few errant long hairs. The battery gauge is convenient and so far accurate. I probably get 10-12 shaves between charges. A good deal for a good shaver.
This does everything I need smoothly and at a fraction of the cost of most shavers. This powers through a 5 day beard, without pulling or snagging. Now for a close shave, well, that takes some time, requiring multiple passes and many direction changes. It fits comfortably in my hand; never feels awkward.I love the charge indicators, and I love that you can travel for more than a week of shaves without recharging. It cleans easily (dry or wet) and the custom hard case I purchased is wonderful.I've used this Remington F5-5800 for almost a month and am totally satisfied. Still, time will tell...although I could replace it every year and still spend less than the more expensive shavers.
My husband LOVES this razor! It is his favorite electric razor he has ever used. He tried another razor with 3 circular blades but had to return it because it pulled on his facial hairs. This one works great, doesn't tug, and the battery lasts FOREVER. He has had this razor for almost a year and has literally only had to charge it ONCE!!! It provides a close shave and you can't beat the price either! I would definitely recommend this razor!
Although I've shaved with razors for most of my life, barring a post-apocalyptic scenario wherein electricity is in short supply and we discover a dehumidified depot of endless pits of mint razor blades and Gillette cartridges, it's a practice I'll be glad to be rid of, not least because it is time-consuming, tedious, reliably blood-letting, ultimately more expensive than buying this product, much too wet and messy, and requiring too many other objects that themselves require even more time to differentiate from each other, try and use until they run out even if you don't like them, and then write reviews for that get buried under everyone else's reviews.Nah. And what's with the 3-prong electric razors? Who goes in circles unless they're shaving their head? This thing works. The motor is powerful. Cuts as close as you're willing to go, and takes less than a minute to get a good shave. Moisturizer then I'm good to go. The pop up trimmer is useful.
For an electric it shaves really well. SO handy when you need a quick shave and don't have time to wash and lather up. Also no worries about cutting yourself. Easy to clean, charges hold forever. Cuts longer growth which I really like. Tried the same brands circular style electric shaver and did not work well at all for me. This one I have used regular.
I have not owned a full-size razor in years, as the memories of other brands, bought as gifts, burned my face. With having a small travel size Remington, and having no problems, I finally opted to buy the full-size home use one and I was not disappointed. It fits my large hand well and performs without having to make multiple passes over and over the same spot to get all the whiskers. I would highly recommend this razer to everyone without hesitation.
Bought for a Christmas present for my hubby, he loved it, nice close clean shave which is required for his profession. Very affordable also, I have paid 3 x more and higher for other shavers & he says this one works just as well as the others. Most last him several years, this is the least expensive purchased so far... at this value if it lasts 2 years or more I consider it money well spent.
I have recently used both Braun 8985 model and Norelco 8000 series Neither was satisfactory, then remembered the Remington I used 30 years ago and said what the heck I'll try it again. Superb shave!! Closer and quicker than Braun, Norelco doesn't come close. And you don't press hard to get a close shave. In fact, pressing harder gives you a worse shave. It is obnoxiously loud as it was before, but I will gladly trade this for the closest shave I have had in years.
For what I paid I saved some money on buying new heads for my razor. I bought this one because of the other reviews and that Remington got me through boot camp in the.......well, a long time ago. I also ordered the powder stick. The fragrance took me right back and the sound and power of the Remington did also. You can hear when it is cutting and it does cut close. The amazing thing is the lack of irritation. I shave first, then shower.I need to use swimmer ear drops after showering and I usually feel the alcohol on my cheek. Not with this razor!! It shaves as close if not closer than the rotary I was using. The charge was fast and lasts about two weeks. Hmmm...the razor I did use was about seven times the price of this one. Let's see how long the sharpness lasts before replacing is needed. My other razor can now be my travel razor. Good job Remington and thanks for the low price.
Very impressed with this Remington F5-5800 Rechargeable Foil with Interceptor Shaving Technology. I've been getting a very close shave with this razor. The batter is much stronger than my previous rechargeable, which would lose most of its power after three or at best four shaves. After following the instructions and letting it charge for 24 hours before starting to use it, I've yet to need to recharge and I'm now on about my 10th or 12th shave. The power drop-off has been negligible, and there is a indicator meter which shows you exactly how much charge you have remaining.I like a good close shave. I would've probably been willing to pay a little more than the $29.95 I paid for this (not including the $10 shipping) but with the reviews for this razor being overwhelmingly favorable, I went ahead and made the purchase. The razor is just as good as earlier reviews had indicated. I'm extremely pleased with the closeness of the shave, the length of the battery charge, the relatively quiet sound of the razor. It's also very quick to remove the foil and clean up after you're done. I'd definitely recommend this shaver to anyone with light to moderate facial hair.
One year later: this razor wins. I've been using a Panasonic, a Braun, and this Remington for the past year just because they are so different and I was curious. The "testing" was as follows:Use one for a month as the "home" razor with periodic second passes with one of the others to see if there are whiskers left (ie, listen to crunch plus before and after back of hand test). The Remington always finds something to cut. There's nothing to "love" about the Remington: it makes the most noise, it's comparatively bulky, and my thumb constantly hits the power button accidentally. But a year later it is still sharp and cuts closer than the others and costs a small fraction of the other pricey razors. Nice job.
I was surprise I have not used a electric shaver in almost 40 years when I was a young cadet at the academy. I normally like the razor but since my heart surgery and had to be on blood thinner I was not able to use the razor and had to go to an electric razor and I bought this one on reviews from other. It works great and gives me just as close of a shave as the triple bladed razors
After three months of using this shaver once a day, I can say that it is the best electric shaver I have ever used, and I have used a few Norelco's and Braun's in my life. It easily shaves so close with very light pressure that after shaving, my face feels as smooth as the proverbial "baby's bottom." I now look forward to shaving every morning, not dreading it as before. I used to get pulled hairs, missed hairs, and red bumps popping up here and there with my previous electric shavers, but after using the Remington I get none of these anymore, and with the closest shaves ever. It was an excellent choice, and for a very reasonable price.
My initial impression was not great but things improved after several uses, hence I changed my review from 3 to 4-star.This may also be due to having used a Panasonic for the past 7 years where this one feels different. However, some things could have been even better still with the Remington:- I wish it was not so bulky (2.4" @widest point) and had a bit smaller shaving head to make it easier to hold and control- The tilting head took a little time to adjust to. I wish there was an option to lock it similar to my previous Panasonic es8103- Even when getting used to it, it takes many passes to get a good close shave versus the Panasonic I have used for years- Laying down it's 2" tall and would not fit into narrow shelves in your medicine cabinetPros:- Easy to remove the blades cover and clean very thoroughly- A clear LED Battery level window- Relatively inexpensive
I use this as a women's sheer for my legs. I had one marketed for women and wasn't impressed. Then I read a Consumer Report article that said they do not even review women's electric shavers because they are so inferior to men's. It suggested buying a man's, which I did with this purchase. Good decision...no going back.
Several years ago I bought a Braun with the whole cleaning stand system. didn't realize what a pain that was, especially the outrageous price to replace the cutter. Had Remingtons years ago, so, decided to give this one a try and couldn't be happier. All the features of the Braun at about 1/4 of the price. Perfect, close, comfortable shave, rinses clean under faucet, etc.....outstanding buy!
I've been using a Braun for years and years, and I thought I was getting a close shave that was until this razor arrived. It came fully charged and ready to go, and what an amazing shave. Just dry I got a super close shave even after I had shaved earlier that day with my Braun. I was a bit skeptical at the price, but this is a solid shaver with an awesome trimmer.Don't spend tons of money on an electric razor, this is a awesome razor at a great price.
Don't let the price fool you, this is a very high and quality product. When seeing it in person, you'd expect this to cost 80+ dollars. The build is strong and durable and doesn't have any aspect to it that really feels cheap. As we all know, when you switch shaving styles, your skin/hair tend not to do well after the first shave with a new style. However, I did not get this feeling at all. After years shaving with a razor, when I used this it was smooth and felt even better than shaving with a razor! No odd bumps or hair pulling that I used to get with a rotary razor back in the day.Only thing I did not like is how there's a picture of this product sitting on a charging base. Yet, that is NOT included or mentioned anywhere on the manuals even for a separate purchase.
I bought this shaving marvel just before going on a 15 day trip. Besides the delivery hiccup, (3rd party service lost my package), I'm quite happy with the shaver. I charged it before leaving for the trip and it's still going. Admitedly, it takes me 2 days to get a perceivable amount of face fur, (I'm not a sasquatch by any stretch of the imagination), but it got the job done. I love the fact that you only need to rince the darn thing in order to get rid of the hair. I still fear that one day, a sizable Chihuahua will crawl out of my shaver and bite me on the chin, but I digress. The only slight complaint I have with this device is its size. It's slightly smaller than the first brick-like cell phones. Mind you, it is smaller than the new smart phones coming out, so as you can see, it's not really a complaint. Its size is probably due to the large battery. All in all, a good purchase and it was indeed a great traveling companion.
Tried this shaver for the first time after the first one I bought was impossible to plug into an electrical outlet. Due to the fact it didn't have any electrical prongs. But my first shave cut closer than even my razors which really amazed me. I am a black male so my facial hairs tend to be wiry and very curly. I was reluctant to buy a shaver again after the first time a decade ago. The shaver would basically just rip the hairs out of the follicle, especially if they were long (even my razors do this). So if I didn't shave the first few days after the new growth, getting the hairs when they were basically peach fuzz. I was in trouble. But the Remington handled it with ease. I didn't feel one pull of a single hair! It was the smoothest shave I have ever had in my life! If Remington keeps up the good job they'll have a life long customer in me!
The shave is 2nd to none, with that said, everything within the cutter area is cheap in terms of how well it's made. 1 and 2nd cleaning of the foil etc. it all fell apart, like a puzzle. I'm disabled and I don't want and shouldn't have to deal with that, who would? I will be returning this shaver due to that, regardless of the awesome job it does.
I'm a Norelco guy. But this razor surprised me. It gave a closer shave than my Norelco or Braun. The pivot heads allowed maximum contact in tough spots. It's easy to clean although the blades were sometimes somewhat difficult to detach. This is the best razor I have ever seen for the money!!
This is the 2nd Remington foil razor I've owned in 30 years of shaving. For the money, there is no better electric razor. The first one I owned lasted about 25 years. Then I went with a different type of Remington shaver (the kind with 3 circular blades), now I'm back to the foil head...and couldn't be happier. The head pivots, making the shaving process smooth and easy. The blades shave evenly and don't yank the hair out like my 3 blade razor did. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase again. It makes shaving a pleasure.
True first class quality. Like the previous shaver I had that finally died after 20 years. I have uses this one for two weeks, so I can't tell you how long the battery will last because it continues to work without showing any power drain. Reminds me of the rabbit ad. YOU CANNOT GO WRONG WITH THIS. GUARANTEED
My last Remington worked for many years and would no longer hold a charge. I'd bought a Braun (an expensive one) and it just didn't shave as close, so I kept using the old Remington plugged in. I finally got this one and have been very pleased. Shaves very close, is easy to use and clean, andthe charge works for nearly 2 weeks of shaves. I've had it a couple months, as I've waited to write the review until I was sure I liked it. I know a shaver is an important and personal tool, and I can truly recommend this one. The trimmer on the back isn't as easy to use as my old Remington 5200, but it works well. Only complaint is I have small hands and this shaver is a bit bulkier in the hand than the old one. I'm hoping it works for a very long time.
i have been a remington user for 60 years, this one is the best yet.
As an Afro-Caribbean man over 50 I do not shave typically more than twice per week. This shaver works does the job to give me a smooth shave. My beard is moderately rough. I also use a finishing shaver (WAHL) with only twin foils. The combo works great. I would have liked the trimmer to be a little larger and/or more effective. It does work but I have to use more strokes than I would have liked.Very good product overall
For the money this is a very good razor. I bought it for using on trips when I need to just "tidy up" at the end of a long day or for a quick shave in the morning. This works great. Good close shave and the battery lasts a long time. I can recommend this shaver. I have a light beard so don't know how it will work on heavy beards.
I chose this shaver because it has a similar profile & shape as my old Panasonic, only a little larger with a larger cutting head due to the double blade system. It still manages to be lighter than my old, smaller Panasonic as well. I was able to jump right in with very little learning curve. From other comments I've read, some people have had trouble using this shaver but I think changing from one way of shaving or from another type of shaver, may be the issue, not the product. The larger head covers more space making for a quicker shave & of course the double blade system cuts that larger swath more smoothly as well. Be alert when choosing a shaver. Some do not allow use with the cord. I've never run any shaver down to needing the cord but it's good to know it's available & another plus for this product.
For a price bracket of around 30$ this is the best you will find. It is also multi-functional as one can use it for shaving and trimming. The blades are not rough, but if you push too hard then definitely some roughness or skin burn is felt. In order to get a clean shave you have to move them over the skin in a direction opposite to the direction of hair growth. This is my first ever shaver and I can tell you that it shaves close enough to be compared with the shaving with razor blades, I used to use earlier.Edited: I am reducing 2 stars from the rating because the screens of the shaver heads have started to fall off after just 4-5 shaves. I think I need to return/exchange this product now.Re-Edited: +1 star for the prompt service provided by the Remington customer care in handling the issue. They gave me a new piece of shaver head.
This razor replaced an electric razor I had for 10 years. I feel this razor does a better job, but that may not be a fair comparison due to my other razors performance surely having degraded over the years. I can however say this razor doesn't have the same build quality and I doubt I will get 10 years of use from this, but it was much cheaper in price. I'm very happy with this purchase overall.I was considering buying razors as much as 5x as much and I'm glad I didn't. This works really well for me and I'm sure I would have been less thrilled with something that I paid much more for that only gave me a slightly better shave.
I bought this Remington shaver because of the great reviews initially to supplement my shaving as a way touch up later in the day against the 5 o'clock shadow because i usually shave after a hot shower because of my sensitive skin. But this has quickly become a way for me to completely shave without worrying about redness or feeling burning sensations on my face. I highly recommend this machine, I've tried probably around 10-15 electric shavers and this ranging in price to very low to pretty pricey (well over $100) and this one out performs them all !!! I bought ny father one and have recommended it to many people !
My skin is fairly sensitive and gets cut up pretty bad by a lot of razors. Not this one. It also does a better job around contour and adam's apple than the rotary I got at Costco, and gets closer overall than the rotary. Not only do I feel the closer shave, but at the end of the day, he growth is less noticeable. I like that it doesn't have all sorts of stupid features no one wants or needs. A basic battery gauge, a power button, and a good shave.GOOD: Can be used while plugged in, in case you find yourself without a charge.BAD: No protective case for travel. Kind of loud.

I purchased this because of it's fair price and it's design is very similar to an older model Remington I was using, and felt comfortable using. The best feature, other than it's decent cutting ability, is the battery meter. All the other razors I've owned in the price range of this model never had any sort of battery level indicator. I really like the fact I don't have to worry about the razor dying while shaving my head (primary use, I use a different electric razor for my face). All in all, very happy with the razor and price was very fair.
I replaced a 17yo Braun razor which had long ago lost any battery charging.I like how the razor fits in my hand. Its blade is new, so of course it offers a much better cut than the third set of blades I had in the Braun. Will have to see how durable their sharpness is.
After using rotary triple head shavers for El years, I decided to try this Remington, after reading many reviews. The Remington shaves well, is not too noisy, and I am pleased with the value; costing about $13 less money on than a retail store. I know from experience that its weak point is the twin foil shaver shields, which if nicked, will tear, rendering the shaver useless. So handle with care, and always cover the foil shaver heads with the enclosed plastic clip-on shield. Holds a charge extremely well, for well more than a week, even when shaving daily. I do not see the need to spend $100 or $200 for other shavets; they will not work 2, 4, or 5 times better than this $43 Remington. However, I use a small stiff bristled shaver brush to clean the blades, and do NOT flush the shaver head with water, as recommended - that would eventually clog your drain with lots of bits of hair.
I needed to replace my less expensive foil razor because the foil had holes in it and it cost more to get a replacement foil/blades than buy a new unit. I didn't want to spend more than $100 dollars. I was sure I could find a quality product for less - and I did! It took about two weeks for my face to adjust to my new Remington F5-5800. Until that point it really didn't shave any closer than my previous foil unit. (Let me add that I switched from a rotary to a foil at the suggestion of a friend and I'm glad I did. Back to review.) After the two week adjustment period I found this razor to be almost as close as a blade - almost. But for the time and cost I'll take this razor over a blade. It charges very quickly and I can get about a week's worth of shaves before I feel I need to recharge. I would definitely recommend this item.
As a black man I wasn't expecting much out of this product. Once I figured out where the trimmer flap was located I started shaving away. I was able to cut my thick curly beard in under five minutes. This baby gave me life. Immediately threw my old electric shaver away.
My son has used this for 18 months & liked it, but then it stopped being able to charge (replacement chargers wouldn't work either). Made the mistake of buying Remington 7300 as a replacement, thinking I might as well save $. Big mistake, because that one doesn't shave at all, it's useless. I guess we're going back to 5800!
For me this razor provides a closer shave than the rotary shavers I've used. However, it's somewhat cumbersome to hold and I'm not sure the swivel head adds much. The biggest negative is that it's considerably noisier than most rotary shavers I've used. I only get about four shaves out of a charge but since it recharges quickly this has not been a issue..

Works well. I LOVE that you can run it directly from AC power when the battery is dead.
An excellent electric shaver. It runs a long time before I have to charge it and if the battery runs out I can run it corded. And it takes just 2 hrs or less to fully charge it. It shaves close and quick. I just had to replace the cutters and foil head which lasted 10 months for me. The replacement cutters and foil head are expensive but if they'll last 10 months every cycle they're worth it. I also like the ten segment battery power indicator but don't care where the pop out trimmer is located on the shaver.
After a little more than 10 years, my old Braun shaver finally bit the dust suddenly. I immediately started shopping around, and price was a big consideration. After much research, and reading many product reviwes, I settled on this Remington. So far, after just a little over a week of daily usage, I couldn't be happier. A very smooth, comfortable, close shave each and every time. It arrived with a good charge, and just today I plugged it in to charge for the first time after 9-10 initial uses. I highly recommend this shaver to anyone looking to not spend a whole lot of money for something that will work as well, or better, than a far more expensive product.
Pros:*Great for sensitive skin. I have sensitive skin and always used caution when using new products.* I like how it had a LED to tell you how much battery is left.* Close shave* I've been a rotary shave for years but wanted to try something new. I love how the replacement heads are alot cheaper capered to my SensoTouch 3D which costs me $47.00 dollars and now the price went up to $81.00 The Foil Shaver will cost me $25.00 to replace the heads which is a huge plus!!Cons:* The trimmer doesn't cut on your upper lip hair or sideburns. When I place it on my skin it closes. Not sure if its a defect or how its suppose to be.* Its a little on the bulky side but not to heavy.
